From Dave<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 By Friday 10\/21 schools need to determine their primary contact and coordinator for YouthTruth surveys in January.<\/strong>\u00a0 Please enter the coordinator\u2019s information in columns AF-AI in\u00a0the spreadsheet linked here<\/a>, or email their name to Dave VanLoo. Last year\u2019s coordinator, if submitted to YouthTruth, is already populated in the file. If the coordinator cells are blank, the principal will be the survey coordinator for YouthTruth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reminder: Student Health Survey:<\/strong>\u00a0Begin preparing to implement this survey to all of your juniors:
1.\u00a0Prior to October 24:<\/strong>\u00a0Communicate to your staff that we are implementing the survey to JUNIORS this year and how this will happen in your building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. Week of October 24: <\/strong> Letter<\/a> sent home to parents. Adjust to your school and send.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3.\u00a0Weeks of October 31st<\/sup>\u00a0and November 7:<\/strong>\u00a0Two-week window for ALL Juniors to take the survey on their iPads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dave sent this helpful note to admin this week:<\/strong> I just sent (addressed to principals) an envelope containing handouts for students to receive after completing the SHS. The number you\u2019ll see on the included sticky note is the approximate number of English handouts in the envelope\/box. Every school should have received some Spanish language handouts as well. I think schools should have enough English handouts, but it is possible you\u2019ll need to make a small number of copies of the Spanish handout, depending on enrollment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please pass these on to your school\u2019s SHS coordinator, or to the appropriate teachers if you are coordinating the survey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A request from Scott McDonald in IT<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Please use one of your dedicated 30 minute staffing times to give your staff time to complete their cyber security training<\/strong>.\u00a0 Soon they will receive an email with a link about this training.\u00a0 It is best for teachers to conduct the training on their own like they do with safe schools as there is a quiz at the end of it. The level leaders are in full support of Scott in this request because this training is very important to keeping our network and data secure.\u00a0\u00a0Here\u2019s some proof<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0of how important the training is.\u00a0 Please ensure your teachers complete this training before\u00a0they leave for winter break<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From Instructional Technology: Parent Communication on Digitial Citizenship<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

October is Digital Citizenship Month. Bend La Pine Schools uses Common Sense Education<\/a> to guide students through grade appropriate lessons on safe and effective use of digital tools and platforms. If you’d like to work with your student on digital citizenship at home, these Teen Voices videos<\/a> and Parent’s Ultimate Guides<\/a> are both excellent resources. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
