Here is relevant wording from the AR:  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Responsibilities of the Teacher:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><strong>A teacher must be knowledgeable of the role of controversial issues in education and recognize their own potential for prejudices and biases. The teacher must recognize that their own opinions may serve to inadvertently indoctrinate students. Full knowledge of policies, the students, the school and community is essential.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><strong>Notice and Alternative Options<\/strong>:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><strong>Parents \/ guardians will be informed in advance regarding controversial issues discussed in courses either through a course syllabus or direct home communication and will be afforded the opportunity to withhold their student without penalty. Alternative activities must be made available to students who object or whose parent \/ guardian objects to the content.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Reminders\/Action Items:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>UKG:&nbsp;<\/strong>Confirm Staff assignments in UKG by going to My Team&gt;Employee Assignments. Use&nbsp;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLSffloZL2q4BEYXxIvDze6fss_viv7KoE9SzTH5k4sY2YqWlSg\/viewform\" target=\"_blank\">this google form<\/a>&nbsp;to identify the corrections needed at your site. Due by Monday 10\/16. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Priority Standards<\/strong> <strong>Training submission: <\/strong> As your ICCL team works to create the lesson you will be delivering to your staff, please add your lesson in the appropriate folder\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/drive\/folders\/1dzGM8WqiPJk7l4tGjC2WxDLaOVqGdymu?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>. The main audience is the classroom teachers. Special Education teachers may also benefit from the professional learning. Ideally, a team is sent to the professional development day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Substitute costs will be covered by buildings.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">October 25<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;from 8:00 to 2:00 (This is a teacher directed SIW, teachers may stay and work with colleagues &nbsp;or return to buildings) at the East Side Library.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Topics to be discussed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The role of manipulatives in instruction<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Determining the content for math support<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ways to deliver explicit and systematic instruction to increase conceptual understanding.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To attend this professional development, please email Dean Richards with a request to attend<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>From HR and the Business Office:<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>What to do in UKG when staff is out for training<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If a staff member is not doing their regular job due to training, they MUST submit a Time-off Request for \u2018School Business\u2019 Leave. This will not affect their accruals in any way, but it does help the district track employees who are not in their regular position.
