From Stephen:<\/strong> Please take the time to fill out this survey<\/a> regarding your school’s plans for grading and gradebooks next year.  In order to support MTSS data systems, we need to ensure each school has a plan for grades to be accurate and readily available in Synergy.  This will also help us support the beginning of the year gradebook setup for staff.  Please contact Stephen with any questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Graduation and name pronunciation<\/strong>:  Principals, please don\u2019t forget to have whoever is reading names at graduation clarify and practice correct name pronunciation. <\/strong> Synergy\u2019s voice-recording of name pronunciation is a good resource (if\/when a student has used that tool and has a recording filed there), and\/or your Multilingual Services staff can help you rehearse as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Graduation: Smoke and Lightning:<\/strong> These are the two reasons that would require us to move our outdoor graduations inside: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Smoke: <\/strong> We follow the OSAA air quality guidelines<\/a> for outdoor events: Once the air quality hits 150<\/strong> (see below), we are required to either cancel an event or move the event inside. Please review this air quality information<\/a> on our staff portal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

51 – 100<\/td>5-15 Miles<\/td>Athletes who are unusually sensitive to air pollution should consider indoor activities only. All athletes with respiratory illness, asthma, lung or heart disease should monitor symptoms and reduce\/cease activity if symptoms arise. Increase rest periods as needed.<\/td><\/tr>
101 – 150<\/td>3-5 Miles<\/td>Athletes who are unusually sensitive to air pollution should consider indoor activities only. Athletes with asthma should have rescue inhalers readily available and pretreat before exercise if directed by their healthcare provider. All athletes with respiratory illness, asthma, lung or heart disease should monitor symptoms and reduce\/cease activity if symptoms arise. Athletes with asthma or other lung diseases, heart conditions or diabetes may need additional rest breaks during practices \/ contests. Consider rescheduling to a different time and \/ or an area with a lower AQI. Schools should consider the impact of elevated AQI lasting for multiple days and the impact of prolonged exposure for athletes and staff on multiple practice session days when making decisions. Consider moving practices indoors, if available. Be aware that, depending on a venue\u2019s ventilation system, indoor air quality levels can approach outdoor levels.<\/td><\/tr>
151 – 200<\/td>1-3 Miles<\/td>All outdoor activities (practice and competition) shall be canceled or moved to an area with a lower AQI. Move practices indoors, if available. Lightning: <\/strong> We follow the OSAA lightning guidelines<\/a> for outdoor events: When lightening strikes within 10 miles of your school, we must wait 30 min to convene the event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
