A special thank you to Kathy and Karen for their extra time and effort in creating a soon to be released video of our K-5 students’ name art. An additional thank you to all of you who helped get the word out to our students and families about this project and provided some extra “nudges” to get their work submitted! This and That:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Metrics: <\/strong>As you probably already saw, an email was sent earlier this past week, confirming that we will not be moving out of CDL before January 4th.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LIPI: <\/strong>Some of you have asked if we can still add individual students to our current LIPI plan; the short answer to this is yes. We just don\u2019t want to be making large program changes for lots of students right now. If a student would benefit from this option, we should do our best to find creative solutions to help them. I would especially encourage you to look at kids struggling to participate in CDL (attendance) who might benefit from a structured, more supportive setting to do their CDL work. If you have any questions about LIPI and potentially adding students, please reach out to Kelle, Frank, or Jess.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Distribution:<\/strong> Please do all you can, whenever possible<\/em>, to make sure that parents have a week’s notice (at least) about distribution. We have many working parents (and kids in multiple grade levels) that have to make special arrangements to pick-up materials during the workday and need prior notice. Thank you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Latino Family Liaisons:<\/strong> The good news is that our district was able to hire an additional Liaison. The not great news is that this resulted in a mid-year liaison switch for many schools, including Elk Meadow. The good news is that our new liaison, Martin Mendoza, has been transitioning with Liz for a few weeks and is friendly and easy to connect with. The not great news is that we will, of course, miss Liz. Please give Martin a big Elk Meadow welcome (follow this link for contact information<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

State Testing:<\/strong> ODE has asked the federal government for a waiver for state testing this school year. I will be shocked if we don’t get it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

COVID\/ Safety related information:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Frank is our Safety Team Lead, and Ann Hollenberg is our School Nurse. You can find our School Safety Checklist here<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another reminder to stay home if you are sick (from our nursing staff): <\/strong>Stay home if you\u2019re sick! \u2013 Please remind your staff not to come to work if they feel ill (even if it is just a case of the sniffles). If they do come to work and end up having to test for COVID \u2013 and test positive \u2013 then contract tracing kicks in and likely will place additional staff into a quarantine situation<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sharing a vehicle<\/strong>: If any (2 or more) staff members need to travel together in the same vehicle for work-related purposes, those staff should wear a mask during the entire travel time (and then follow mask protocols after that). Let me know if you have any questions about this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
