Kelle’s Week: <\/strong>As you all know, I was out at the end of last week to help care for my stepmom who is in her last stages of hospice care. Based on the information that I had at that time, I planned to come home this weekend and be at work this week from Monday-Wednesday. Plans have changed and I will not be returning this week. You will be in great hands with Frank and Jess leading.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10 Days Countdown:<\/strong> Our office team wants you to know that we see you and all of the hard work you do day-in and day-out. For the next ten days, we will be providing a daily small surprise to bring you a little joy until you are able to unwind during winter break. Look for an email from Jess each day with a little more information about the next day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

SIW Agenda:\u00a0<\/strong>SIW this week will be our staff Holiday Party! We look forward to slowing down for a few moments and celebrating together. Here is a link to the invite<\/a>. Reading Video: The Simple View of Reading<\/a>:<\/strong>\u00a0Olivia, Shannon, and I will all be part of the Reading Foundational Skills Adoption Committee. As part of the committee, we have several videos and articles that we will be reviewing to gain a common understanding of current best practices. I will be sharing these readings and videos here with you. This short video<\/a> (less than 4 minutes) is a really great overview of “the simple view of reading.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

COVID\/ Safety Related Information:<\/h1>\n\n\n\n

Updates for outdoor masking at school begin Monday:<\/strong> Based on recent revisions to requirements issued by the Oregon Department of Education*, beginning Monday, Dec. 6, wearing masks while outdoors for Bend-La Pine Schools\u2019 students and staff will be recommended (not required). This change applies to students in grades K-12 and staff in outdoor settings that include, but are not limited to, recess, lunch, PE, etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, families or other visitors outside on the school campus (for instance during student drop off or pick up) are recommended, not required, to wear masks. Unvaccinated individuals not wearing masks who are exposed to a positive COVID-19 case while outdoors will need to follow quarantine protocols if they are identified as close contact. Masks continue to be required indoors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Note: Curricular activities may take place outside, where six feet of distance can be maintained. Masks are recommended in these settings, but not required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
