Staffing:<\/strong> I want to let you know that Melinda has made the difficult decision to retire effective January 1. Melinda and Bryan will be moving to Bryan’s mom’s ranch in Kentucky. Melinda will be back this week on Wednesday-Friday to say goodbye to her kids, families, and our staff. Therese will continue as a substitute the ELL position until we have posted and hired a temporary ELL teacher for the remainder of the year. Melinda has been an incredible advocate to our ELL students and families and has continually gone above and beyond the call of duty to support them. You will be very missed, Melinda. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students in the Office:<\/strong> This is a friendly reminder about our processes for getting behavioral support for a student. When you need support, call the main number (x1500) and an available and appropriate staff member will come to support. Do not just send a dysregulated student to the office<\/span>. Often, Kelle, Frank, and Jess are not in the office to receive them. If you give a call, we will be notified and can get the student. This way Cindy and Chris won’t be left juggling the dysregulated student and the rest of their responsibilities. Thanks for your help with this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

10 Day Countdown:<\/strong> The countdown to winter break surprises will continue this week! It is our hope that this has brought a little fun and lightness as we push through to a much-deserved break. Thank you for persevering through this crazy, crazy fall. You are appreciated more than I can express in words.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SIW Agenda: <\/strong>SIW this week is teacher prep time. Kelle, Frank, and Jess will be out of the building starting at 1:00 for an admin meeting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Staff Meeting: <\/strong>Our ICCL team will be meeting briefly on Tuesday to take a look at a reading intervention schedule that we hope to start soon after winter break. Let’s plan to meet at 2:30 in the media center.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Reading Article- <\/strong>“Teaching Reading IS<\/em> Rocket Science<\/strong>“: 2020 version<\/a>: This is a longer read (30ish pages) broken down into multiple articles . I haven’t personally read this one yet (saving it for the two week break), but I read the 1999 version of the same article “Teaching Reading IS Rocket Science,” and I look forward to noticing the differences and appreciating how much we have learned about the teaching of reading over the past 20 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
