All employees are encouraged to subscribe to BLConnect, Bend\u2010La Pine Schools\u2019 text notification system, to ensure timely and accurate notification of school closures and delays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Morning Staffing Updates: <\/strong>The week before the break had many staffing absences. To keep staff informed of &#8220;the lay of the land&#8221; each day, I wrote morning staffing updates. A few staff members said they appreciate those updates and would like to have them daily. I plan to continue these morning updates, and I hope you all find them helpful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>November Fire Drill: <\/strong> We still have to do a November fire drill and have two days to complete it. I am aiming for Monday afternoon but will change it to Tuesday if needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>December Spirit Week:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1WpYNi8Yc4P74WZWUp_AY9ThqKsdVCURw\/view?usp=share_link\">Follow this link <\/a>for a rundown of our December Spirit week, December 12-16. A translated version will be ready to share soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>December Generosity:<\/strong> As usual, during December, Elk Meadow will be hosting a couple of different giving campaigns:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Snack Drive: <\/span>Instead of our usual canned food drive, we will be asking for snacks we will keep at Elk Meadow to support those students who need snacks. A flyer will be sent home this week in English and Spanish.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Giving Tree: <\/span>A potted tree is being donated to Elk Meadow to live in our lobby year-round. We will have some snowflakes with needed cold-weather items in specific sizes of need.  We will have a particular focus on snow pants and snow boots. Again more information to come in English and Spanish.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Grants for Field Trips or Outdoor Programming (From the Children&#8217;s Forest): <\/strong>Feeling inspired to plan a field trip or outdoor program for your students? The Children&#8217;s<strong> <\/strong>Forest is here to help! For more information,&nbsp;<strong><a style=\"font-weight: bold\" href=\"https:\/\/mailchi.mp\/41521881958f\/field-trips-are-onand-naturehoods-program-updates?e=59c6091822\">click here<\/a>.<\/strong>  **Note from Kelle&#8230; this is really easy money to access. Children&#8217;s Forest is motivated to get kids outdoors and on field trips.**<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>SIW:&nbsp;<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1aU6JU9Eg4PYT-579OTVgOS7h_rFUuUTHkbkakagpCsk\/edit#gid=129205414\">This Wednesday will be an &#8220;A&#8221; week for our specialist schedule.<\/a> Our SIW this week will be the required (every three years) <a href=\"https:\/\/qprinstitute.com\/\">QPR Suicide Prevention Training<\/a>. Any classified staff that stays past your hours to attend this important training are welcome to complete a timesheet for your extra time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Art Installation: <\/strong>You may have seen this email from Korman before the break: Does anyone want to join in a huge art installation?&nbsp; Would you be game to make a few snowflakes for our large bulletin boards near the front of the school? Here&#8217;s the idea:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A\/B wings create snowflakes of all shapes and sizes for a winter mountain scene (color theme &#8211; white, blues, purples, silvers)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>C\/D creates snowflakes of all shapes and sizes for a winter forest scene<br>(color theme &#8211; white, blues, purples, silvers)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><br>What&#8217;s involved?&nbsp; Making snowflakes!&nbsp; Consider all sizes (the larger, the better), consider adding color or texture, and consider a more substantial paper weight for longevity.<br>If you all make the snowflakes, we will build the scenes. Snowflakes would start going up after Thanksgiving break.&nbsp; A box will be in the copy room for finished flakes.&nbsp; No names are needed as it will be impossible to return.&nbsp; This installation will remain up till spring.
