Below is a draft of the plan for the year.  Please let me know ASAP if you have any questions or concerns:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Tuesdays:<\/strong>  Leadership Teams and Staff Meetings &#8211;  Leadership teams will each meet one time per month (and as needed in a crunch) and staff meetings will still be the first Tuesday of each month.  We will plan to start at 2:45.<\/li><li><strong>Wednesdays:<\/strong> SIW &#8211; One Wednesday each month (already designated and on the EME calendar) will be independent choice.  Four Wednesdays per year will be directed by the district.  The remainder will be determined by me and our SIW team.  We will plan to start at 1:15 and flex to 1:20 or later as needed.<\/li><li><strong>Thursdays:<\/strong> Grade Level Teams and EBISS &#8211; Thursdays will be a protected time for grade level and department teams to meet (by need and choice).  EBISS will also meet on these afternoons.  EBISS will try to start at 2:40 as we always have a lot of ground to cover.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>9\/11 SIW:<\/strong>  Our SIW this week will be compensation time for those staff who are participating in Scoop on Schools on Thursday evening.  If you are a staff member who will be at Scoop on School on Thursday evening, you are welcome to leave once students are gone. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Behavior Classroom Visits:<\/strong>&nbsp;Frank, Jess, and I are making short visits to all classrooms over the first few weeks of school to scan for \u201coutlier behaviors\u201d that might need some support more sooner than later. &nbsp;Don\u2019t hesitate to let us know if there is a specific student or specific time that might be good for us to get a look at. &nbsp;Our goals is to support you and our students as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Amplify:<\/strong>  A few of you have asked me &#8220;what is the district &#8216;expectation&#8217; for teaching science this year.&#8221;  I asked; here is the answer: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>We\u2019ve always had science standards and we should have been teaching those standards. Last year we eased into using Amplfy so we could get used to it and not overwhelm staff.  However, the standards were still there and still are.  We have a curriculum that covers those standards and it can and should be used for instruction.  We really &nbsp;don\u2019t want people getting hung up wondering how many Amplify lessons or units they have to teach.  We need to be teaching and addressing the standards.&nbsp; That\u2019s the official answer. &nbsp;Unofficially, let\u2019s try to do as much as possible.  Understand what the standards are. Modify as needed.  Engage the kids and make them look forward to Science. &nbsp;They do love it.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Northwest Community Credit Union Mini Grant: <\/strong> Another great mini grant opportunity.  The goal of Northwest Community Credit Union\u2019s (NWCU) annual grant program is to help educators create learning experiences for kids that might not otherwise be funded by school budgets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>CLASSROOM LEARNING MINI-GRANT:  Up to $1,500 for individual teacher resources and projects.  From requests for classroom supplies, technology, books, to funding for classroom projects, programs, or field trips\u2014we\u2019d like to provide educators with the resources to engage and educate their students.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">To Do:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Monday Announcements:<\/strong>  Our Monday morning announcements are being replaced by &#8220;Eagle News,&#8221; a video version of our morning announcements that will star our 5th grade students.  This video will always be five minutes or less, will include the Pledge of Allegiance, and should be played each Monday at a time that works best for each classroom.  (The national anthem will be played during assemblies.)  Here is a <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1DUT3GdDJVN9PSLNR9-zIqAUJwP0UAidE\/view\">link to the first edition of Eagle News<\/a> starring Jess and Frank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Recess Rules Videos:<\/strong>  In an effort to teach our recess rules more effectively, Jessica and Frank worked on creating some videos that can be shared in smaller doses and replayed as needed.  Ideally, all common area and recess matrixes\/ videos will be <strong>shared by the end of this week<\/strong>.  This is the overview of being safe, kind, and responsible on the playground. Specific game rules will be sent out with a video form in the Eagle News.   The videos are also embedded in the original matrix.  As with the other videos, it is mostly silent (except the whistle at the end) so that teachers can talk through the different parts.  More details can be found in the email Frank sent on 9\/2.  Here is a <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1Gk3--hAeL6K7dnlIDoq2ru0ftR4TiieR\/view\">link to recess videos.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Fire Drill:<\/strong>  We are required by law to have a fire drill during the first ten days of school.  Our first drill will be this Thursday at 12:30.  Please <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/10qEO-O-1F3Jkh-Uq5nt9hQ-EAHAfsMq99ONpbVDDsv8\/edit\">review our procedures<\/a> and prepare your students.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Sub Folders:<\/strong>\u00a0ALL positions that require a substitute when absent should have an up-to-date sub folder with Sue at all times.
