We will meet as as a whole staff in the media center and our ICCL team will lead a process to elicit feedback on a draft of our mission and vision statements and to define our collective commitments to achieve the shared vision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>12\/3 Staff Meeting: <\/strong> Our monthly staff meeting on Tuesday will consist of yearly AED training, equity training, and a few announcements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Art Workshops:<\/strong>\u00a0Art workshops start THIS WEDNESDAY and will take place on Wednesdays, December 4th, December 11th, and December 18th. Below are a few details you will need to know:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>There will NOT be specialists on these days. Instead, there will be a K-2 recess and a 3-5 recess to cover prep times.  See below for schedule.<\/li><li> Many staff use the 9:15-9:30 time for their homeroom students to help clean the classroom before the break so the classroom teacher can (hopefully) have a real break during the 30 minute recess.<\/li><li>When signing up students in <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1eXD-5bEsFbZxooJsfDvhMzvL8DzlXl8Lei4SBtCS3UE\/edit#gid=0\">the google doc<\/a>, please be sure to use both first and last name and teacher name in parentheses\u2026 i.e. Joe Smith (Variel)<\/li><li>Name tags with the location of the workshop are helpful and recommended.<\/li><li>Do not release students early from your workshop\u2026 even if you are done early. Everyone should release students to go back to their classrooms at 9:15.<\/li><li>Schedule:<ul><li>8:15-9:15 \u2013 Workshops<\/li><li>9:30-10:00 \u2013 K-2 Recess\/ Prep<\/li><li>10:00-10:30 \u2013 3-5 Recess\/ Prep<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Standards of Practice: <\/strong> The following was recently in Gary&#8217;s newsletter to principals.  I think he worded it really nicely, so I&#8217;m just going to share his words below.  Please see me if you have any questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>&#8220;I hear rumors from time to time that people think standards of practice are no longer applicable, or that such and such a grade at such and such a school is only doing 12 minute of reading per week (exaggeration), or the like. While I do believe that most of us are working to follow the guidelines set forth for reading, math and writing in our standards of practice, I still think it is worthwhile to remind everyone that they are still in play.\u00a0 I like to think of them as really strong guidelines, not inflexible, never changing laws of nature. The expectation is that you are scheduling that time into your day, with the understanding that life happens and there may and will be days that schools and\/or individual teachers have to adjust.\u00a0 If you are having difficulty figuring out how to schedule everything in, please let me know. I would be happy to come out and troubleshoot in order to be sure we are maintaining these standards. Standards of Practice linked-\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1s3bEmYNd_5dNlxp7AD4xln7ZXLR2wWhk\/view?usp=sharing\">Math<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1mkgKHECu53Ywdn718mVbT9FULCSKeSMU\/view?usp=sharing\">Reading<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1s4uO-WdSRkoJ4y7FnQcNrRJ1TOJqwvvg\/view?usp=sharing\">Writing<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Bus Dismissal Change: <\/strong> Frank shared this right before break, this is just a reminder:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\"><p>As you know, we started dismissal at 2:25 for bus riders because we were concerned about being able to get busses loaded before the expected 2:38 time.\u00a0We have done a great job of getting students on busses with lots of time to spare.\u00a0 So much time to spare that the drivers are sitting on busses for up to 10 minutes with kids waiting to go home.\u00a0\u00a0We are going to make a change that will buy us a few more minutes with kids and support our transportation staff by loading a little later.
