Summit High School Summer Basecamp<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Incoming 9th<\/sup>\u00a0graders are welcome and encouraged to attend starting August 1 through August 12 (M-Th) from 9am-2pm. Basecamp is a chance for incoming 9th<\/sup>\u00a0graders to experience Summit BEFORE jumping full swing into the regular school year. Students will get familiar with the school building, staff and teachers, other 9th<\/sup>\u00a0graders, and build skills to set them up for a great start to their freshman\u00a0year, the\u00a0most important year of high school<\/a>. Transportation and meal provided.\u00a0Spaces are limited, first come first served.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Green Team and NJHS Tree Planting<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students from Pacific Crest Middle School\u2019s Green Team and National Honor Society planted 92 trees around campus last Wednesday to help lower our carbon footprint. The students were awarded a grant to fund the trees based on a video they put together about carbon dioxide reduction from tree planting. Each tree was lovingly planted and given some compost thanks to Deschutes Recycling. Huge thanks to Sarah Durfee for spearheading out students’ efforts to become more aware of the impact we have on our home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drive and Apply Events Every Thursday in Bend, La Pine<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are looking for people interested in becoming bus drivers to apply for the open positions we have in our Transportation Department. Currently, our bus driver shortage is one of the primary reasons that middle schools have later start and release times than high schools and elementary schools, so bringing on more drivers may help our efforts to return to the pre-pandemic schedules. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Community members are invited to test drive a school bus on an obstacle course, enjoy a free pizza lunch and get a job interview on the spot during interactive transportation job fairs hosted by Bend-La Pine Schools every Thursday for the next six weeks. Join us: Thursdays May 5, 12, 19 and 26; and June 2 and 9, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Bend: 501 SE Second Street and La Pine: 16350 First Street, La Pine. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
