Principal’s Hello<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Happy Friday, Golden Eagle families! It was another great week here at Pacific Crest. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our teachers had a workshop on Wednesday where we learned strategies around expectation setting and non-verbal communication. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our 8th grade class had a mini assembly on Thursday, where I pumped them up as school leaders and told them they would be the best 8th grade class to ever graduate from PCMS. (They applauded.) I want them to avoid the victim mindset of school disruption from COVID and to view this experience and something that will make them stronger and more resilient. They will rise to this challenge because I see that in them!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Student Clubs Begin!<\/strong> | Monday, October 10<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During advisory today, students were made aware of the current club offerings<\/a> to chose from and viewed this slideshow<\/a>. Albeit, the club selections are minimal at this point, but be aware that students may suggest a club by completing and following instructions on application form<\/a>. We will continue to update this club offerings as clubs get approved by the principal. All clubs are optional.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

6th Grade Community Identity Showcase<\/strong> | Wednesday, October 12 | 6:00 – 7:00pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who am I as a person? As a student? At the beginning of the year, the most important journey we can embark upon as a community is creating a strong class connection that will greatly benefit our relationship for the duration of the year. This mini-project serves as an opportunity to introduce our individual identities and establish our collective identity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Identity Showcase<\/a> will show each student\u2019s final products in a gallery walk style. Guests and students will walk around to different student\u2019s stations to learn about the different identities that make up our entire community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Connect Parent Workshop<\/strong> | Tuesday, October 25 | 6:00 – 8:00pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PCMS will be hosting a FREE two-hour opportunity for parents and guardians to learn factual, unbiased information and skills to start a conversation with their kids about vaping and other drugs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants will receive a $15 gift certificate! Registration is required. Please contact heather.tang@deschutes.org<\/a> or scan the QR code.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fall Dance & Social<\/strong> | Friday, October 28 | 4:00 – 6:00pm<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are happy to announce the first, in a very long time, all school dance at PCMS. More details will follow next week as our 8th grade WEB leaders continue to plan this event. There will be a DJ and other activities for students to enjoy. Costumes are encouraged but must follow district dress code guidelines. Faces must not be covered. And we ask for your help that costumes are not appropriating other cultures. (We are teaching this in Advisory as well.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
