Dear Golden Eagle Families, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I hope your kids had a great Halloween. We had a lot of fun here at PCMS getting into the spirit and celebrating the fall season. Winter’s creeping in!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next week we celebrate students with good attendance and CLASS (Character, Leadership, Attitude, Scholarship, and Service). We will host an assembly, starting Friday, for each grade level. This publicly recognizes the behavior we want to see and, hopefully, helps our school culture continue to evolve, grow, and thrive. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Athletics Update<\/strong> | Wrestling Coaches Needed (Head & Assistant)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are looking for new wrestling coaches. Someone who can lead our team in skill development, work ethic, and sportsmanship as well as cultivate a positive team culture. Does this sound like you? Do you know someone who would be a good fit? If so, please apply online at the Bend-La Pine district website. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to reach out to our Athletic Director, Jason Deaner. Go Eagles!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The wrestling season begins January 6th and goes thorough March 15th. More information regarding wrestling registration will be announced later this month. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Tuesday evening, the 7th grade football team<\/strong> played their final game at Bend High under the lights against Pilot Butte looking to avenge their only loss this season. PCMS got out to an early 6-0 lead. PCMS scored again on the last play of the half going up 20-6 where it remained until the end. The victory gave 7th grade 1st place and a 7th grade championship!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our 8th grade football team<\/strong> played their last game as Golden Eagles on Tuesday night, versus westside rival Cascade under the lights at Caldera High School. Even though temps were near freezing the Golden Eagle offense put together a balanced running and passing attack, delivering two 20+ yard end zone completions. Golden Eagle defenders had another great showing, holding Cascade to a single touchdown. Pacific Crest secured 3rd place in the 8th grade City Finals, beating Cascade 12-8, delivering an overall record of 3-2 for their final middle school season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

iPad Insurance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ve seen a recent increase in the number of broken iPads among our students. As you know, these devices are expensive tools for learning, and keeping them in good working condition is critical to supporting your student\u2019s academic success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If your student\u2019s iPad becomes damaged and you do not have insurance, there will be a fee for repairs, ranging from $150 to $299<\/strong>, depending on the extent of the damage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To avoid these potential charges, we strongly<\/strong> encourage families who haven’t yet purchased insurance to do so. To buy insurance,  your student\u2019s iPad will need to be inspected by our media manager. If it clears inspection, the school will contact you for the $30 insurance payment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please remind your student to take extra care of their iPad, including using the case, avoiding food and drinks near the device, and keeping it in a safe place when not in use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Snapchat Scams<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We recently heard from a parent that their student was caught by a Snapchat scam. After consulting with our SRO, we learned that these scams are quite common and happen all the time, all over the world. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s important to have guardrails for online activity and to educate your student about potentially dangerous social media like Snapchat. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Student Invention Opportunity! 2025 “Inventerprise<\/strong>“<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inventerprise is a problem-solving contest open to all Central Oregon K-12 students, designed to foster creative thinking and problem-solving skills. Last year, there were nearly 900 participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is Inventerprise’s 33rd year and the contest topic is Mars: We Are the Martians!<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Imagine if we actually made it to Mars. How would we need to adapt our lifestyle to thrive in this new environment? Invent something that prepares us for this future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
