Principals’ Hello<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dear Golden Eagle Families, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sorry I didn’t blog last week! I was sicker than a dog! Remember to wash your hands, get your flu shots, and wear a mask in the airport! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today we had the last of our first quarter class assemblies. We honored good attendance, making it to class on time, and citizenship. Of course, we also played a quick game to end the assembly, which was super fun. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’re learning together, following expectations, and continuing to grow as a community. We enjoy working with these amazing students. They make us smile and laugh every single day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The entire staff at PCMS is so thankful for all of the wonderful families who donated to last Friday’s Thanksgiving feast. Yummm! We have the best support community. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

8th Grade Award Assembly<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Today, we highlighted 24 students who haven’t been marked late to a single class! Also, eight students were recognized for their 100% attendance. This means they haven’t missed a single class since the start of the school year. Last, we honored five students (three are photographed below) who were selected for our Golden Eagle Class Award. We have so many fantastic students that it was challenging to narrow it down. These five students demonstrate class, leadership, a positive attitude, excellent scholarship, and promote service to others. We look forward to celebrating five new students at the end of Semester 1. Great work, Golden Eagles!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

OSAS Testing Annual Notices and Opt-Out Forms<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bend-La Pine website has been updated with the 2024-25 fillable PDF annual notice and opt-out forms<\/a> that we are required to share with families. There are separate notices and opt-out forms for ELA\/Math testing (grades 3-8 & 11) and the SEED survey (grades 3-11). Form more information and to access opt out forms. have copies available for parents to pick up in the office by the applicable dates listed below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

ODE English Language Arts and Math State Testing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Consistent with the requirements of ORS 329.479, ODE has developed an annual notice (available through ODE\u2019s Test Administration<\/a> webpage) that describes these assessments, identifies the timeframe when the assessment will most likely be administered, and identifies an adult student\u2019s or parent\u2019s right to excuse the student from testing. Districts and public charter schools must provide parents with the ODE-developed annual notice at the beginning of each school year. <\/strong>In addition, districts and public charter schools must provide parents with separate notice at least 30 days prior to administering the statewide summative assessments in Math and ELA using the ODE-provided 30-day notice and opt-out form (also available through ODE\u2019s Test Administration<\/a> webpage), or a district-created form that exactly reproduces the language of the ODE-provided form. School districts and public charter schools must use the language of the 30-day notice and opt-out form provided by ODE to communicate with all parents about state testing requirements and their right to opt out for high school students by January 5, 2025, <\/strong>and for students in Grades 3-8 by March 2, 2025<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

ODE Student Educational Equity Development (Seed) Survey<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Oregon law (House Bill 2656) requires each school district to make the SEED Survey available to students in grades 3-11. Parents or guardians may decline, either verbally or in writing, to have their student participate in the SEED Survey. Schools will provide parents with notice of administration and the process for declining participation at least 5 days prior to administering the SEED Survey. Students may also decline, at any time, either verbally or in writing to participate. Students may also decline to answer individual questions on the SEED survey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We know how important communication is for supporting your student\u2019s success. We encourage you to reach out to your student\u2019s teachers anytime you have questions, need updates, or want to share information. For a quick and easy way to contact your student\u2019s teachers, follow these steps in ParentVUE:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. Log in to ParentVUE.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Click on the \u201cClass Schedule\u201d<\/strong> button within your student\u2019s account.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. Look to the right side of the screen, where you\u2019ll see your student\u2019s teachers listed in blue.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  4. Click on a teacher\u2019s name, and an email form will open, allowing you to initiate a direct message to that teacher.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    This tool makes it easy to stay connected, and our teachers are here to support you. Whether you have questions, feedback, or just want to touch base, please don\u2019t hesitate to reach out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
