Principal’s Hello<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dear Golden Eagle families, <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I hope you have an amazing, sunny weekend! We had so many kids go outside for lunch recess today, which was awesome. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Wednesday we, as a staff, looked at our YouthTruth survey results. We had a great discussion. This data, along with our mid-year and end-of-year staff data, will help us articulate action steps for next school year. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here’s an overview of that data for you to see as well. Soon we will be showing this same data to our students for their input. The numbers you see in each table represent the percent of respondents who marked “Agree” or “Strongly Agree” with the items in that part of the survey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Other Middle Schools column represents the other middle schools in our district: Bend International School, Cascade, High Desert, La Pine, Pilot Butte, Sky View, Three Rivers, and Westside Village. Those scores are averages of all our middle schools. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In total, there were 16 sections of the survey (5 staff sections, 5 student sections, 6 parent sections). We improved in 10 of those sections. Of those 10 sections, 8 of them showed growth of 5 percentage points or more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One area I want to focus on for next year is the Engagement section on the parent survey. This is the only section where we dropped 5 points. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My first action step is to ask you this question: What does engagement with Pacific Crest mean to you? The questions in this section point to partnerships in school governance, decision making, and involvement. I have a few ideas about how to amplify this part of our relationship, but I’d love to hear from you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Health Education is most effective when parents and other adult caregivers are involved.  Be an askable adult.  Teacher will refer students back to their families for questions about values. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sexuality Education (Sex Ed) is required by Oregon law in grades K-12.  Parents\/guardians have the right to review Sex Ed lessons and opt their child out. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
