CANVAS COACH(ES) OPPORTUNITY!
Are you proficient in Canvas and interested in helping our team tune and refine our Canvas practices?? Last year Heidi acted as our Canvas Coach and was awesome… but this year she’ll be focused on teaching and juggling Jasper :).
The District will time sheet 1 OR 2 of our staff up to 5 Hours Per Week (at our discretion!) to provide Canvas support and coaching IN OUR BUILDING! This is seriously a golden opportunity for us as a staff and for anyone who enjoys dialing in tech systems like Canvas. The better (and more aligned) we are in our Canvas use the easier life is for our students and our teachers!
Here is the basic job description.
Let’s not let leave this money/opportunity on the table! Let Zach or I know ASAP if you are interested!
Assessing Your Comfort Level With… (action item)
With so many new staff, Zach and I want to make sure we are providing everyone with the support, PD, mentoring and/or technical info that is “what YOU need most right now”… and we are aware that this is not the same for everyone!
In order to help us tailor or Inservice week as well as some of our early PD, can you please take a about TWO MINUTES to complete this mini survey on some of our District technological systems and RHS practices. THANK YOU!
Setting Up Your Rooms!
Many of you are new to your current rooms, even if you are not new to Realms or Brinson, and some of you have already begun popping in to get things set up in your classroom. Awesome!
Need a Building Key? Talk to Jennifer – she will get you one as in on campus every day now.
Need Something For Your Classroom? Do you need more chairs, tables, student desks? Do you need a book shelf, file cabinet, recycle bin or something else? It is very possible that we have what you need already in storage!
If you need/want a piece of furniture or equipment, PLEASE just shoot your request to Zach (or Roger if Zach is not available) and we will see what we can do to make it happen! Please try NOT to go directly to Dennis – if all of us bombard Dennis with requests he will not be able to do the rest of his job. Dennis will be most effective if your requests come through Zach or I!
Where Are The …………? We are doing our best to get all of our supplies and equipment organized and in predictable places where you can find what you need! For now, we are using THIS MAP/INVENTORY to guide ourselves. However, if you can’t find something… Jennifer PROBABLY knows where it is… and like the friendly folks at Safeway, she will probably walk you right there!!
Tech Questions? Laptops, printers, iPads, doc cams, projectors, dongles etc…. our 1st line of defense is Lisa Johnson who is attendance secretary and media manager. HOWEVER, we are also lucky to have Robyn Lyman who is our District Site Tech (for several schools) and he currently has a COZY OFFICE upstairs in Seelig’s classroom. He is ALSO a great resource and is the expert in all things tech!
Facility “Do’s and Don’ts” Lets keep our campus looking clean and organized! Taking pride in the facility, creating beautiful spaces and centering student work on our walls sends a strong message to our students! Here are a few reminders:
- Put chairs up each afternoon and place your trash can and recycle in the hallway.
- Place your dirty rags on the side of the trash can (drape them over the side.) Dennis will replace them with new clean rags in the morning.
- If you are running low or need more cleaner in your classroom spray bottles, place the spray bottle on the edge of the classroom garbage can for a refill
- Please no tape on the windows or glass. You may use blue tape only on the walls (no pins), but not on the floors. Jennifer also has some special sticky dots for hanging things on almost ANY of our surfaces – so see her for a supply!
- Feel free to pin things to the light gray fabric covered sound panels but please DO NOT pin things to the beige fabric covered sound panels (usually up higher)
- For tape on floors, we have special athletic floor tape. See Jennifer …
- Messy Science or Art materials should be cleaned in buckets and not in the bathroom and never in the kitchen sinks. Please be sure the students are cleaning their mess.
- Please break down your cardboard and place it next to one of the big rolling blue carts.
- If you re-arrange furniture in one of our Common Spaces, please “reset the room” when you are finished
