STAFF BLOG #8 – Jan 15, 2024

BIG UPS

Big Ups to EVERYONE who helped make our campus look awesome for our Information Nights and Enrollment Season! Teachers – thank you for curating work on display boards and cleaning up your rooms! Special thanks to Caleb and Jill who pulled some double duty in the last week or two to help prepare our campus!

  • Did you know that this is even a Core Practice #25: Creating Beautiful Spaces That Promote Learning:When people enter the school, they are immediately aware of being in a place that celebrates learning. The walls are filled with high-quality student work showcased in common spaces and classrooms. Student work is displayed in a way that honors the work, giving parts of the school a museum quality that inspires student and community pride. Work is often supported by explanatory text that includes student voice and reflection. The mission of the school is evident to guests, students, and teachers throughout the building.

Big Ups to Luke and Lauren for generating a fun spirit of competition between their Crews for MightyCause donations. This kind of spirit and sense of healthy competition is part of what it means to BUILD A CULTURE OF CREW and what is meant by EL Education when Your efforts helped your crews CHARGE ahead on donations, surpassing our 8th grade crews that had the early lead. #competitionandcollaboration

Big Ups to Phoebe and her Crew for organizing and running super fun MS Community Meeting last Friday.

Big Ups to Anita and Lauren for building on and deepening a really COOL partnership with Bend Studio as a part of our 9th grade “Realms Payer One” expedition! Thanks to Anita and Lauren, Bend Studio experts are in our school inspiring our students and helping them build great skills in ELA and Math!

Big Ups to Eric for organizing an awesome Watershed Presentations Session with our 7th and 8th graders last Friday. Having students present their field based (and classroom) learning in the form of a culmination like this deepens the learning by helping students REALLY recognize how much they know!!

YOUTHTRUTH SURVEY IN CREW THIS WEEK!

As per the Outlook calendar – we are administering the YT Survey in Crew this week!

Two PRO TIPS:

  1. Make it a Canvas assignment (HS only since most MS Crews do not have a Canvas I believe?) and students can submit their  date/time stamped last page in the survey
  2. Share with students that ALL VOICES MATTER and that all of our staff (including EA’s and non-instructinoal staff) take the YT Survey as well – in fact, we encourage YOU to complete YOURS while students are doing theirs!

ALL THE DETAILS HERE:

DUTY SCHEDULE FOR TRIMESTER 2

We may not have been quite as clear as we needed to be about duty shift ups!! Please check out the TRI TWO DUTY SCHEDULE here and make sure you are on top of your duties. Let us know if there is an issue or conflict!

MIGHTY CAUSE – YAHOO!!!

We SURPASSED our goal and I want to share a BIG THANK YOU on behalf of the Friends of Realms board! We raised over $18,000!!

We will be crunching all the numbers and re-calculating things for our Crew based Incentive parties and Butler Day – STAY TUNED!

Lastly, Caleb, myself, and the FoR board will be asking for some feedback from you about the process soon so we can be sure we LEARN from this year’s experience…. stay tuned!
