Celebrating Great Teaching
It has been a privilege to begin to get into a few classrooms and a few Crews this week, and to see great teaching happening. I was struck by and super appreciative of a few things that I saw and heard:

IMPORTANT Additions to the RHS Staff Portal:
The RHS staff portal is basically a collection of bookmarks or a “table of contents” to the most frequently used (and/or highly collaborative) documents from our Team Drive. Docs that get linked on to the portal are the ones we know staff will need to go back to often, or docs that a small team is working on but know that others must be able to access. Anyone can add a doc to the portal. Here is the link, and a couple of recent adds.
- Staff Planning/PD Calendar for SIW’s, this doc is in progress and needs ICCL input still!
- 2018-19 RHS Budget – should give you a sense for planning purposes
- Purchasing Request – how to order stuff
- Shared Brinson Duty Schedule including Lunch Clean Up Rotation – Harju’s Crew is up this week
CURRICULUM NIGHT POSTPONED… going to do a parent volunteer night instead!
I think I was overly optimistic when I put our Curriculum Night on the calendar for this Thursday. SO… I am postponing it and replacing Curriculum Night with a Parent Volunteer Night that I can run with some help from Jennifer. I would like to re-schedule the curriculum night potentially to Thursday October 4th – a 1 week postponement.
Parent Volunteer Needs and Ideas – please take a few minutes to think about how an energized and effective group of parent volunteers could help YOU. What could our parent volunteers do for you? The more we give them jobs, the more engaged they will become – it’s a “virtuous circle”, so please add your ideas, wants, needs to this document no later than Tuesday end of day: Parent Volunteer Projects, Wishes Etc.
ENROLLMENT UPDATE
We are adding one more freshman – Anna Bozovich – this week (MVHS) starting tomorrow. She seemed super stoked after our tour on Friday – nice kid! That will put us at 59 freshman and 28 sophomores. I have permission from Brad Henry to cap at 90 (YAY!), so hopefully we’ll get there quick and then minimize mobility. We will add Anna to either circuits or Old School Blacktop and then standby for her Crew and a/b or C/D split.
PUMP & STRETCH
One more week in this rotation. We should make a plan by end of day Wednesday for round 2. Do we want to stick with the same offerings and let students either repeat or try a new one? Or, add a new one (juggling? other?). We should probably post the new form no later than Friday during Crew. Is there anyone who will volunteer to coordinate this round of form sign ups? I am happy to make the grops once the form is complete and students are signed up.
AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS
These are starting up this week. We have 4 paid in Art Club and 4 paid in Film Making and 8 paid in PhotoU so far. Hoping to get each one to 8, so please promote these in Crew!
