COVID EXPOSURE ON BEND HS BUS IMPACTS 4 RHS KIDDOS… 🙁
Cloe Rose, Bryson, Patrick and Jenelle all have been contacted this weekend by the Contact Tracing team from BLSD… they were exposed to a COVID positive student on the bus who apparently was NOT a Realms HS student… maybe a Bend High student? They will need to quarantine apparently until Monday April 26th! UGH.
We are going to need to find ways to make sure we support all four of these students in staying caught up using Canvas and/or emails (and/or Webex if you want). I know this will not be easy for you as teachers and even LESS EASY for them as students… forced to stay home even though they may be feeling COMPLETELY FINE. A huge bummer for these kids... especially after JUST getting back for their 1st week!
NEW 9TH GRADE STUDENT STARTING MONDAY
New student Trinity Mathers will be starting in 9th grade this week!
Trinity is a new student who is friends with Chloe Rose and in fact due to a health condition with her Mom she sometimes lives at Cloe Rose’s house. Trinity is on an IEP and knows some of the BIS kiddos from 8th grade. She will join us for this trimester but will likely be in freshman classes again next year due to being out of school most of this year. Seems like a sweet and engaging kiddo.
Schedule:
- biology
- english
- per 3 –
- crew – Karen’s Crew
- per 5 – PE
FORECASTING MONDAY IN CREW FOR 10th & 11th
On Monday the 10th and 11th graders will be pulled from Crew to meet in the cafeteria for forecasting. This will take most of Crew… thanks for your flexibility all! Jen and Roger will run this.
9th graders during Crew will have a short forecasting survey that is focused mostly on Intensives. It should only take about 5-10 minutes and we will send you the link!
The 1st “Ripple Effect” Kick Off lesson will be Tuesday this week – we are looking forward to these awesome hands on “school culture” projects!
SEATING CHARTS & ATTENDANCE TAKING REMAINS CRITICAL FOR “WHEN”, NOT “IF”, WE HAVE A CASE!
Just a reminder that taking attendance as accurately as possible and having a seating chart that you can produce EVERY DAY are both kind of critical and definitely required!
A COVID positive student is a WHEN, not and IF at RHS this Spring. And WHEN it happens, our nurse and contact tracers will be using your attendance records and seating charts to make contact tracing and quarantining decisions and calls!
Thanks all.
CONFERENCES – REMINDER OF PROCESS
Thanks for working through the process of inviting your “targeted conferences” on our list here. Please remember to invite the SPED team (KLL, BD, and SH) to any SPED student conferences where you think they can be helpful!
SUMMER SCHOOL TEACHING OPP & CREDIT RECOVERY OPP FOR KIDS
I will be getting more information about this, but it looks like an AWESOME OPPORTUNITY for credit recovery for struggling students AND for some fully paid work for anyone who wants it!! It is a 3 week (4 days/wk) summer school for middle and high school kids in need of credit recovery!!
Please take a sec to read through THIS DOC from the District and stay tuned for more details from me! The are LOOKING FOR TEACHERS AND LEADS!
SSC – TIER 2 ACADEMIC SUPPORT OR TIER 2 SOCIAL/EMOTIONAL RE-REGULATION SUPPORT
As we work our way through the next few weeks, please know that we have a team meeting every week or two to review how the SSC & BRYT programs are working… what is working well, what needs adjustment etc.
Here are a few things from last week:
- Steph has created a POLO tracking sheet and all POLO students will have AT LEAST a weekly check in and a designated place on campus to work on their POLO class. Only SPED students will use the SSC for their PEAK classes POLO periods
- SSC is not a place for kids with headaches or stomach aches…. if it is bad enough that they can’t maintain in the classroom, they can check in at the office and access the health room OR check in with Roger. Please try Tier 1 strategies in the classroom first like offering a walk around break, or a quiet space to work (overflow area outside but within site of your classroom where you can supervise them)
- SSC is for Tier 2 academic support (best if planned ahead) or Tier 2 social/emotional re-regulation support!
MEETINGS THIS WEEK:
- Monday 3:30 – 4:00: Grade level Crew team meeting (planning Ripple Effect)
- No All Staff SOC Meeting this week – every two weeks
- Wednesday 2:30 – 4:00 – Teacher Directed, no all staff meeting
