{"id":1406,"date":"2021-11-03T18:55:42","date_gmt":"2021-11-03T18:55:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/roger.white\/?p=1406"},"modified":"2021-11-04T16:57:36","modified_gmt":"2021-11-04T16:57:36","slug":"rms-staff-update-10-28-21","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/roger.white\/2021\/11\/03\/rms-staff-update-10-28-21\/","title":{"rendered":"RMS Staff Update 10-28-21"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h2 class=\"has-text-color has-background wp-block-heading\" style=\"background-color:#eff4e1;color:#0074a6\">MIDTERM PROGRESS REPORTS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">These are to be emailed out NEXT Friday (Nov 12th).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here is some simple &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/15J68y9CwPp8qYjD8tTDv3eUvuBy2_zbkNKsEGWv8rmg\/edit?usp=sharing\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">how to generate and email progress reports<\/a>&#8221; 1 pager and a screen recording.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you are struggling with this &#8211; ask a colleague!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-color has-background wp-block-heading\" style=\"background-color:#eff4e1;color:#0074a6\">NANCY&#8217;S NEW HRS AND SECURING CAMPUS<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Nancy is shifting her hours to start VERY early in the AM and so we will no longer have her AFTER school.&nbsp;<br>This means that WE are now responsible for locking the building EVERY DAY!!!<br>Casa north door &#8211;&nbsp;<strong><em>Beck<\/em><\/strong>SSC west door &#8211;&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong><em>Delaney<\/em><\/strong>Town Hall &#8211; all doors &#8211;&nbsp;<strong><em>Ian<\/em><\/strong>East Main building double doors &#8211;&nbsp;<strong><em>to remain locked all day.&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong>Exterior classroom doors &#8211;&nbsp;<strong><em>these are the responsibility of that classroom&#8217;s &#8220;owning teacher&#8221; (or sub!)<\/em><\/strong>Main front doors &#8211;&nbsp;<strong>Kelly<\/strong>Cabin<strong>&nbsp;&#8211; to remain locked all day. Missy responsible on Tuesdays.<\/strong>This MAY mean that certain doors get locked BEFORE everyone is out of the building at the end of the day. SO&#8230; carry your keys with you at the end of the day&nbsp;<strong><em>and if you unlock a door, RE-LOCK IT!!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-color has-background wp-block-heading\" style=\"background-color:#eff4e1;color:#0074a6\">DECISION MAKING FLOW AND COMMUNICATION!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>STAFFING\/SCHEDULING DECISIONS AND TWEAKS<\/strong>&nbsp;Including but not limited to fieldwork, duty&nbsp;changes, covering for each other etc.)I just want to clarify and remind our team that any&nbsp;changes&nbsp;to our &#8220;staffing&#8221; need to be approved by Lynda or Roger before taking affect!<br>There have been a couple of examples lately where teams of teachers have come up with thoughtful solutions to&nbsp;staffing&nbsp;challenges that may indeed serve students BETTER&#8230;&nbsp;<strong><em>and<\/em><\/strong><strong>I am asking that before finalizing, these proposals are brought to Lynda\/Roger for approval (or revision if neceessary)!<\/strong><br><strong>Examples:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>if we are making a shift or switch&nbsp;in fieldwork&nbsp;staffing&nbsp;to add, reduce or switch staff from the originally approved fieldwork proposal submitted by the f\/w team and CC.<\/li><li>if we are swapping out some teaching or supervision duties (beyond, &#8220;hey, can you cover my lunch duty today while I work with a kiddo&#8221;&#8230; which does NOT ned office approval!) for a period of time, or making some kind of schedule switch<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>STAFF LEAVING CAMPUS DURING WORK DAY:<\/strong>The general rule of thumb is that teachers are on campus from 8:15 &#8211; 4:15. That is the contract work day. If you need to run off campus (episodically) during your prep for something,&nbsp;<strong><em>no problem<\/em>,<\/strong>&nbsp;please just let the office know. If we have an emergency while you are off campus, we need to know you have left!<br>This guideline applies equally regardless of WHAT PERIOD your prep is. If you have a prep at the start or end of day, and need to be off campus during your prep for some reason, please give the office a heads up. For more &#8220;regular&#8221; arrangements to be off campus during the normal work day, please see Roger. For example, if you would to see if it is possible to leave early or arrive late&nbsp;<strong><em>regularly<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;on a certain day(s) of the week because of some extenuating circumstance (child care, coaching, etc.) please speak to Roger.<br><strong>COMMUNICATION WITH THE OFFICE:<\/strong>It is almost impossible to &#8220;over communicate&#8221; with the office and really EASY for the office folks to find themselves out of the loop on all sorts of key information (whereabouts of staff,&nbsp;changes&nbsp;made to a student&#8217;s schedule, the whereabouts of a group of students, a new family situation etc.).&nbsp;<br>PLEASE feel communicate with the office team about anything you THINK they might need to know, including for sure anything to do with significant&nbsp;changes&nbsp;to student or staff &#8220;whereabouts&#8221; and schedules.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>MIDTERM PROGRESS REPORTS These are to be emailed out NEXT Friday (Nov 12th).
