Weekly Schedule Updated<\/strong> And Ready For Any Links…<\/h3>\n\n\n\nThe RHS@Home site weekly schedule<\/a> is up to date but you’ll need to make sure your links are good to go and any of those 1 off a synchronous classes that some of you have been trying out… be sure those are adjusted\/revised etc.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ICCL Team will be taking a peek at this on Monday and it will certainly morph a little,<\/strong> but hopefully this helps you see where we are headed. There are still some open slots.<\/p>\n\n\n\nBETTER WORLD WEEK TEAM:<\/strong> Big thanks to all of you at work on the BWW project. The idea is that BWW project outlines are fleshed out by each small team and are ready to share by Thursday May 21st<\/em><\/strong>. Each project team can coordinate some time together to complete their plan and all plans are accessible to all team members – so pop in and add your ideas when you can (even individually)! I will ask JScal and\/or Jen Rule (depending on load sharing) to coordinate all the student sign ups. \n\n\n\nMASTER SCHEDULE & FORECASTING TEAM: <\/strong>The master scheduling team will be meeting again Monday morning (5\/18). This team is hoping to have a solid draft that melds moonshots with reality by Tuesday this week for your input, suggestions, accolades and improvements! If you want to try and get a sneak preview of ideas (beware, they are not fully formed and will require some archeology\/interpretive skills) you can see the links here:<\/p>\n\n\n\n- Master Schedule DRAFTING 20-21<\/a><\/li>
- the 1st two tabs (initial engineering and draft #1) are our most active tabs<\/li>
- reminder – no final staffing decisions are being made here, we are just drafting and hypothesizing… all of you will have the opportunity to weigh in AND communicate privately with RW for input!<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
\n\n\n\nGr<\/strong>ading Guidance For End of Trimester<\/h3>\n\n\n\nAfter conversations with other HS Principals and Colleen Funderberg (SPED Assist Director) it is becoming clear to me that we DO have the flexibility to give students a grade of PASS if we have seen SOME<\/em><\/strong> LEVEL<\/strong><\/em> of engagement during the trimester. That might mean some submission of assignments, some engagement on webexes and\/or phone calls with teachers.<\/p>\n\n\n\nIt is ALSO CLEAR to me that this is super gray and that there is NO CLEAR guidance from the state on this!!! AND, there is the hard conversation around to what extent<\/em><\/strong> do we shift grading away from our normal “Proficiency Based” system that is based on demonstrated mastery of robust set of curriculum standards<\/strong> applied consistently for all <\/strong>and shift towards something that is, instead, based on a much looser and less consistent standard like: indication of engagement\/effort\/growth with an equity lens adjusted for often unknown home\/family and personal obstacles<\/strong> .<\/p>\n\n\n\nThat said, I have BEGUN to add some \"filters\" that we can use to help us make final decisions in the coming weeks. <\/strong>\nYou can look at these here.<\/a> <\/strong><\/pre>\n\n\n\nNo need to do anything yet other than KEEP REACHING OUT<\/strong> and trying to engage students you haven’t seen or heard from much!!<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
\n\n\n\nSummer Work Option<\/strong>s<\/h3>\n\n\n\nI wanted to let you know that I am saving some money to help fund some OPT IN<\/em><\/strong> summer curriculum or “special project” planning work for pairs, teams or individual teachers this summer who might be interested!<\/p>\n\n\n\nI received valuable feedback from Karen (thanks!) that not all staff members necessarily want to do paid summer planning work, and that TOTALLY makes sense! And it’s OK! On the other hand, I know that some of you might be motivated and inspired to do some planning this summer that helps make possible some of the cool and more radical “moonshot dreams” you have as passionate teachers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
SO – that said, I just wanted to plant the seed. I will have a better sense of how much I have available soon, and I will be working with Karen and Michelle as ICCL’s to shape a few ideas for possible summer work. STAY TUNED and know that there is no<\/em><\/strong> requirement<\/em><\/strong> at all<\/em><\/strong>… it is opt in only, and the $’s are limited. First – a humongous shout out to Karen and Michelle for their leadership. These two ICCL’s have made a REAL and SIGNIFICANT difference in our school’s direction and growth, and I hope you all get a chance once in a while to appreciate them :). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
That said, Karen is finishing her 2nd year of a two year ICCL term and the position will become vacant. I would love to invite anyone interested to “apply” (including Karen if she’d like to re-up<\/strong><\/em>, which we haven’t yet even discussed).<\/p>\n\n\n\nThe formal job description is posted here<\/a>. There is a short\/simple application process that includes getting one reference<\/a> from a colleague (at RHS) which is sent directly to Candy Gelatt and also a writing short “essay” describing why you are interested in the position and\/or what you would bring to it… this also gets emailed to Candy Gelatt. <\/p>\n\n\n\nI will bring this up at one of our staff meetings briefly this week – I just wanted to plan t the seed AND make sure I am transparent and equitable about the opportunity \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"

I would love to invite anyone interested to “apply” (including Karen if she’d like to re-up<\/strong><\/em>, which we haven’t yet even discussed).<\/p>\n\n\n\nThe formal job description is posted here<\/a>.
