I hope each of you has had a restful, safe and rejuvenating break! 2020 was a crazy (I know, that does not capture it!) year for sure, but I am thankful to have had an amazing team to weather the storm alongside!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here&#8217;s hoping that 2021 brings us some slightly smoother seas &#8211; please know that I will be doing what I can to steer us on a path that is both steady <strong><em>and<\/em><\/strong> aiming towards our vision to be &#8220;radical&#8221;&#8230; to pursue engaging learning experiences that are out of the box, rigorous but relevant, and aimed at helping our students TRULY be <strong><em>leaders of change!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Schedule Reminders For January<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span style=\"color:#a30003\" class=\"has-inline-color\">CDL SCHEDULE:<\/span><\/strong> Our CDL Schedule remains the same for all Webex and office hour classes <strong>BUT<\/strong> with<strong> new LIPI time slots &#8211; <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/13aKVL5E-wXbywlV2fmoMRvXEAwugH6IIzP8_SNZzkDE\/edit#gid=109884398\" target=\"_blank\">all shown here<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"color:#a30003\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><strong>NEW LIPI SCHEDULE<\/strong><\/span>: (<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1gzAat2KNbNqidE1WIPPU8TWwWbbhHsHwKfcGPc9tmkc\/edit#gid=1501688261\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>detailed who\/where\/what here<\/strong><\/a>)  includes LIPI groups on M, T, Th, Fr (1:30 &#8211; 3:30) plus a social group on Wednesday morning. The first week back we will ONLY be holding the Monday\/Tuesday\/Wednesday LIPI sessions on site, while the Thursday\/Friday LIPI cohorts will meet on WebEx. We expect to shift the Thursday\/Friday groups on site as allowed, likely week 2 of January.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span style=\"color:#a30003\" class=\"has-inline-color\">2nd TRI PUSH IN SCHEDULE<\/span><\/strong>:  here is the revised 2nd trimester &#8220;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1gzAat2KNbNqidE1WIPPU8TWwWbbhHsHwKfcGPc9tmkc\/edit#gid=876184188\" target=\"_blank\">push in schedule<\/a>&#8221; that our Supported Ed team has put together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>After School Clubs and Activities<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Y&#8217;all are awesome and thanks to that, we have some great after school extra curricular happenings &#8211; they can be seen below. Until we end up in a hybrid model, all of our after school offerings start at 3:30 with the exception of Wednesday Ping Pong club which starts at 4pm. This will allow Jennifer and Lisa to be able to &#8220;manage arrival&#8221; and check kids in for contact tracing purposes! Certainly it is <em>LOOKING LIKE<\/em> the week of Monday Feb 15th with possible 9th grade orientation the week before that. Nothing is finalized YET (there are plenty of union and health department logistics to work out, as well as transportation etc), <strong><em>but it is coming, so we need to be ready!<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I ask all of you to take a look at THREE schedules, and I suggest you do so on the following order:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Check out the<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1hFIC-EzbzkVaOqWfpT94HYFYbWCAxldZVg_neYNM9_E\/edit#gid=1110462594\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1hFIC-EzbzkVaOqWfpT94HYFYbWCAxldZVg_neYNM9_E\/edit#gid=1110462594\"> <\/a><strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1hFIC-EzbzkVaOqWfpT94HYFYbWCAxldZVg_neYNM9_E\/edit#gid=1110462594\" target=\"_blank\">comprehensive high school&#8217;s Hybrid Draft<\/a> <\/strong>including all of the accompanying text explanations that help to clarify expectations for teachers a bit. This is what is being reviewed by District and Union and, including any revisions, will be happening at all of our large high schools.<\/li><li>Then re-look at the <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1hFIC-EzbzkVaOqWfpT94HYFYbWCAxldZVg_neYNM9_E\/edit#gid=0\" target=\"_blank\">DRAFT 1 that our own hybrid schedule team<\/a> <\/strong>was working on back in November before we paused them due to rising COVID numbers. <strong>KEY FEATURES:<\/strong> 90 min block classes (1x\/week) plus Crew at home via Webex. You can see the staff feedback on that draft as well.<\/li><li>Lastly, take a look at a<strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1hFIC-EzbzkVaOqWfpT94HYFYbWCAxldZVg_neYNM9_E\/edit#gid=1707099374\" target=\"_blank\"> &#8220;DRAFT 2&#8221;<\/a> <\/strong>that I have put together. KEY FEATURES: 50 minute classes 2x\/week on campus, and includes a short crew meeting 2x\/week as well.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>PLEASE FEEL FREE TO WEIGH IN with your comments, preferences, suggestions between the three possible schedules in front of us.<\/strong> OR, if you have a 4th version to propose, please feel free to do so. Use the space provided for Comments directly on the google sheet on the <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1hFIC-EzbzkVaOqWfpT94HYFYbWCAxldZVg_neYNM9_E\/edit#gid=1707099374\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">2nd Draft tab<\/a> to share your thinking. <strong>I need to submit our proposal to Katie for union review before Friday January 8th, so timely feedback is appreciated!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong><span style=\"color:#03a300\" class=\"has-inline-color\">ACT Testing Date Selection<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Folks &#8211; we need to choose an ACT testing date of the two dates below:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Tuesday Mar 2 &#8211; the 2<sup>nd<\/sup>&nbsp;to last week of the trimester (not including intensives week)<\/li><li>Tuesday Mar 30 &#8211; 2 days after Spring Break and the 2<sup>nd<\/sup>&nbsp;day of trimester 3<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I suspect we MAY not be the decision makers on this because the big schools carry more weight here. However, MY preference would be to do it the March 30th&#8230;. in my opinion this allows us to have a couple more weeks of Hybrid scheduling and being on site with each other AND a couple more weeks of instruction before we sink into &#8220;test mode&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>If you have a preference, <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/forms\/d\/e\/1FAIpQLScN3qKWUg0mdKyk19lQWtKtzrXA9YTP64i-c9s2nTfywwIksw\/viewform?usp=sf_link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">please note it here quickly<\/a>. We WILL have the opportunity to dig into and learn from the data SOON after it is administered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I will announce the YouthTruth Survey on Monday January 12th in our MoM meeting and if you could administer it on Tuesday January 13th OR Thursday January 15th in Crew that would be excellent. It will take 20 minutes, so please factor it into lesson plan for the day and ask students to submit a screenshot as a Crew assignment (for or NOT for points, your call).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The Student Survey Link is:&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ytsurvey.org\/realmshs21\">http:\/\/www.ytsurvey.org\/realmshs21<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">SIW <strong>STAFF MEETING SCHEDULE FOR JANUARY (OR UNTIL HYBRID)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We will continue with 12:00 &#8211; 12:45 Students of Concern meetings on WebEx and All Staff Meetings from 1:30 &#8211; 2:30 on Wednesdays. Once we return to hybrid these meeting times will likely need to change &#8211; so I have put them on the Outlook cal only through mid February for now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>I have drafted a <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1RmUp7kek3jwzte1ApicjOaBPPxMMntt-IXD6QIWFvdg\/edit#gid=0\" target=\"_blank\">schedule of SIW meeting topics<\/a> . These are still in progress, so check back often and feel free to bookmark this schedule.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Materials Pick Up Protocols<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To reduce the number of extra trips our parents make to the school, Roger and I agreed that coordinating the material pick up through the front office (with Jennifer and Lisa) makes the most sense.&nbsp; Some supplies can be picked up during LIPI or during after school programs.&nbsp; Since I am the \u201ckeeper of all the lists\u201d&nbsp; it\u2019s easy for me to check my lists and make a plan to pass materials to students when they are on campus. Some materials can be mailed home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>If you have materials that need to be picked up by families,&nbsp;<strong>please let me know a minimum of one week prior. LONGER IS BETTER!&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;I will ask for the list of students and all the materials \u2013 preferably packaged and ready to go out the door.&nbsp;<\/li><li>We would like, when possible, to&nbsp;<strong><em>SYNC material pickups across classes<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;so that one family does not need to make visits to campus 2 weeks a row for 2 different classes when we could have sync\u2019d those<\/li><li>Jennifer is similarly the go to coordinator for&nbsp;<strong><em>material return processes<\/em><\/strong>&nbsp;\u2013 pls work with her!<\/li><li>If you have communication that needs to go home with the materials, please compose your email and send it to me.&nbsp; Let me know what date you\u2019d like it to go out and I will send it as a School Messenger email.&nbsp; I will add the pick up times\/dates that work for the office. I will also ask families to reply to me if they need additional time or a home delivery is requested.&nbsp;<\/li><li>We are limiting the hours for material pick up between 8-10 and then 1-3.&nbsp; If a family is unable to pick up their supplies during the time frame that is given, we will do our best to organize a time that works for them.&nbsp; Additionally, I can leave materials outside in a tote with a secure lid for an evening or early morning pick up.&nbsp; Lisa and I will also plan a morning of home deliveries for those who simply cannot make it to school.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As you can see, there are many logistics to having students stop by to grab materials! It is not an easy process.&nbsp; &nbsp;I believe by routing all the outgoing materials through the office, it will minimize stress for everyone involved.&nbsp; The check in\/check out system has been a little clunky and the quantity of returned materials so far has been poor.&nbsp; We will make every effort to remind families to return the supplies, but when possible, it makes sense to send home items that don\u2019t need to be returned.&nbsp; Talk to me if you have any questions or if you need help making a plan.&nbsp; I\u2019m always happy to help!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome Back!
