Office of Safety<\/strong>–Safety Resources – just an FYI that the slides from Tuesday\u2019s safety presentations are in a Safety Resources folder on our admin shared <\/a>drive. Don\u2019t forget that in that drive you can also find the meeting calendars, information about days 189-190, RSSL guidelines and more. <\/p>\n\n\n\n From Instructional Tech <\/strong>– the instructional tech coaches are putting the finishing touches on a one-stop document for staff that introduces them to our systems and resources. This should be especially helpful for new staff. I will have them send it out to schools as soon as it\u2019s ready. Also, the online method for buying iPad insurance is already up on the InTouch system. The flyer for insurance is getting translated right now. That will be sent out as soon as that is done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n From TLC <\/strong>– we are super excited about the Innovative Teaching Conference next Wednesday and Thursday (8\/25-26) at PCMS @ 8:30. Sign up is now closed. We are at 200 people each day. If you did not sign up to attend, please come only to the keynote and invitation only sessions for your level. If you have staff who have been asked to attend sessions (Special Education and BRYT focused work) and have not signed up, please have them attend those sessions. If you or your staff is attending an invitation only session without a signup, we did not<\/strong> order you a lunch. <\/p>\n\n\n\n From HR<\/strong> – Here is the letter<\/a> and agenda<\/a> for the Welcome to Bend-La Pine Schools day (8\/30) that went out to all new 21-22 staff along with staff that was hired last year (and rehired this year). It would be great to have one administrator from each school attend whether you have a new staff member or not. Also, we would ask that you work with Sean and Kinsey to ensure the itinerant staff feel included at the school level. With the high number of \u201cnew hires\u201d, we are asking that you keep introduction information to a minimum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The district will be providing the \u201cswag\u201d this year, so no need to bring anything from your school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We look forward to seeing you on Monday, August 30th<\/sup> at Summit High School. The doors will open for registration and breakfast around 7:00. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Please let Stephanie Bent know if you have any questions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n FAN News from Dana – <\/strong>FAN Staffing for the 21-22 school year: <\/p>\n\n\n\n Updates, Reminders, Info and Rants…<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Teacher Work Hours – <\/strong>Tammy and I did some informal polling of several schools and determined that a 7:15-3:15 teacher report time would work best for a common elementary day. This would allow for a larger chunk of time in the afternoon for meetings and a wee bit more time to arrive in the morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Contacting online students from last year <\/strong>– At the end of last year all students who opted out of brick and mortar were pointed back to your school. They may not know this and think they are still enrolled with BLPO. Calling them to determine their intentions for this year is very important. Your office manager or secretary can pull a list of kids and make the calls. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Climate Meetings – <\/strong>I am going to ask that all of you reach out to your BEA building rep and schedule a monthly climate meeting with them. I am hoping this will be a proactive step to improve communication and head off any potential issues. Some of you may already do this. If you do, your feedback, suggestions, and history with these meetings would be appreciated. Tammy and I will also be creating a notes template for you to use during these meetings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Instagram\/Facebook Post –<\/strong> it would be helpful if everyone could put something out on Instagram and\/or Facebook that announces your office hours and also encourages families to register if they are new to the area or have an incoming kindergarten student.<\/p>\n\n\n\n No QR codes – <\/strong>We just want to clarify some conflicting information you heard on Safety Day regarding the contact tracing QR codes we did last year for all adults coming into the building. Per the district RSSL team, we DO NOT need to do QR codes this year. Daily staff attendance is taken through absences. If contact tracing is needed, a conversation will happen with a staff member, just like before. QR codes don\u2019t do that. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Horizontal on Monday <\/strong>In case you missed it in the blog last week, we are having our horizontal meeting on Monday at La Pine Elementary, from 8:30-10:00. (51615 Coach Road, La Pine) Our agenda includes updated RSSL information and time to connect with each other to share ideas for the start of school. We will also give an updated staffing report as well as other business.
