(but at least we are consistent)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><span style=\"color:#a30000\" class=\"has-inline-color\">IMPORTANT!<\/span>\u00a0 For your webpage: <\/strong>\u00a0Reminder that we are asking schools to share their school meal plans on their website before the first day of school. Please call the document \u201cMeal Plans\u201d and post it to your School Information page. Whoever manages your school websites can do this, but Deby Bryson can assist if folks run into challenges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>BRYT Admin Lead <\/strong>&nbsp;As part of our BRYT program launch, we would like to have one administrator identified at each site that we can collaborate\/support and train in terms of supporting the Student Success\/BRYT implementation. If you could please identify that person and add it to this document <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/17TV_JJUCJjosCBzG5R29n98LEuyurvtpivEvAW_Rp5o\/edit?usp=sharing\">here<\/a>, that would be great.&nbsp; We have just a few so far at the elementary level, so even if you think you have already done so, please check the link to make sure.&nbsp; Thank you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Approved Volunteers<\/strong>&nbsp; Approved volunteers provide a service to students during the school day. New as of today&#8211;no approved volunteers until the district has a system to document the vaccination status of all volunteers. &nbsp; We hope to have this up and running in the coming weeks. The only exceptions to this are Teaching Candidates and their supervisors from OSU Cascades and George Fox,&nbsp; volunteers with Friends of the Children who need access to the students they support, and Camp Tamarack, who will provide \u201coutdoor school\u201d on sites this fall. Sorry for this inconvenience.&nbsp; (volunteers who will be approved once the documentation is in place will be:&nbsp; Commute Options, Bend Science Station, OSU Nutrition program, Dental screening)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At this time, after school programs, not run by the school or happening during the school day, like Raices, Camp Fire, Good News, LEGO Robotics, and others can take place in the school if they have put in a room reservation form and agree to&nbsp; follow and enforce the guidelines of wearing a mask and social distancing (3 feet unless eating which is 6 feet).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">DIBELs teams are hired by the ESD and are approved to be there during the day as well.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Dreambox and Lexia <\/strong>&#8211; During the first couple weeks of&nbsp; the school year please ask teachers and teams to communicate with you with implementation plans for each of these programs. It\u2019s important that we start off the year using these programs and don\u2019t wait several weeks before getting them started.&nbsp; Access a coach for assistance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>First Week Visits<\/strong>&nbsp; Next week, during the first three days of school, Dr. Cook and Dr. Nordquist (ok, Steve and Lora) as well as some school board members may be stopping by for a quick hello and to celebrate the start of the year.&nbsp; They do not want you to stop what you are doing to entertain them, but rather a quick check in and how\u2019s it going.&nbsp; Skip and Tammy will also be doing the same.&nbsp; But for us, we like you to stop whatever you are doing and give us 100% undivided attention (just kidding).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Links to Covid 19 Safety Posters.&nbsp; <\/strong>Your Office Manager and School nurse already have these posters.&nbsp; Check with them about how you will use them in your building. &nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1eLkm2dp0kG9SFFGcftiBQb1BbDeWlewQ\/view?usp=sharing\">Poster 1<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1631L2JvduyAxgKTBcAgEgUEUp0ah6JD0\/view?usp=sharing\">Poster 2<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Shared Google Drive<\/strong>&nbsp; This week we received lots of requests to share permissions with your teachers for documents in our Elementary Leaders Shared Drive.&nbsp; Out of precaution, and because we will be sharing things in the drive for your eyes only, we are not granting these sharing requests.&nbsp; If there are documents you want to share with your staff please make a copy of the document and share it.&nbsp; If you are still confused by all things google drive, Christie Boen is an amazing Google Drive trainer!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>FERPA<\/strong>&nbsp; This is just a friendly reminder to remember our FERPA guidelines.&nbsp; FERPA is the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act.&nbsp; This means that we should not be emailing personal student information directly to others.&nbsp; If you need to reference a student in an email, emails may only use one qualifier when describing a student.&nbsp; For example, Last name only or their school ID only.&nbsp; When using a student\u2019s last name and teacher name, that is too much information.&nbsp; If you want to share student records or documents with people, using google docs or BLS Send is the best way to assure that the guidelines are followed.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-wide\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Department News\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>FAN Advocate Update<\/strong> Here is the<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1S-eBvNTRaLeu6XhVnHeDodMD1dv2-DhG\/edit?usp=sharing&amp;ouid=113868335263779891565&amp;rtpof=true&amp;sd=true\"> link<\/a> to the most current FAN Advocate update.&nbsp; If you are a school who is currently without an advocate, the link lets you know who will be covering your school.&nbsp; It is also a good heads up for those of you who have advocates who have additional schools to support. (at least we&#8217;re consistent)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>From Tami Pike re: Contact tracing<\/strong>&#8211; Please let your&nbsp; teachers know that if there is a positive case in their class, middle and high schools will be receiving an email from a contact tracer or nurse requesting information about whether masks were worn consistently during the class and they will be requesting a seating chart to identify any close contacts. The expectation is that teachers will respond to emails asap (we understand that they are teaching classes) &#8211; ideally before 5pm on the same day. If we do not receive a reply by 10am the next day, we will assume that students consistently wore masks and were at least 3 feet apart. We do not have the capacity to track teachers down to get this information.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">*Elementary schools will be a bit different and we will more than likely be doing in-person interviews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Standard Response Protocols (SRP)&nbsp; <\/strong>SRP training for the SY 21-22 has been updated to include the HOLD and SECURE protocols. The Secure protocol replaced the term Lockout from the previous SRP protocols. The protocols to conduct a Secure have not changed from the Lockout protocols, only the terminology as Lockout and Lockdown were often confused as protocols. The current posters that you should use to replace the outdated ones in your school are<a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1eVsQrZB3ixXb2gfXjMh_hNN5rnpX5R6m\/view?usp=sharing\"> here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In lieu of Scott Bojanowski, Julianne Repman, and the SRO coming out to schools and going over the protocols during a one-hour in person training this school year, we ask that you have your staff watch the<a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1kOEJWxZsTdw1JNOMxOs2qevD8__U2KRB\/view?usp=sharing\"> SRP 2021 What\u2019s New video<\/a> (6 minutes in length) that discusses the SRP protocols.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Please have staff complete watching the video by October 31, 2021<\/strong> and type in your school name and the date you watched it<strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1Wr6EtW2OqqR6-_0anOfpDhXvI8pDpC5FgeYAALW2tMU\/edit?usp=sharing\">here<\/a><\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1Wr6EtW2OqqR6-_0anOfpDhXvI8pDpC5FgeYAALW2tMU\/edit?usp=sharing\"> <\/a>when you are done.&nbsp; If after you watch the video and want Scott, Julianne, and the SRO to come visit and answer any questions, they would be happy to come for a visit&#8211;just reach out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>From Scott McDonald re: <\/strong><strong>Hotspots &#8211; <\/strong>We will again be prepared to support families<strong> who do not have internet <\/strong>by providing mobile hotspots.&nbsp; Our team in IT has made some significant improvements that should be known before we start connecting families with hotspots.&nbsp; Some of the improvements include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>School district Hotspots will <strong>only<\/strong> work with student-issued school iPads.&nbsp; This is because they have their own unique network that is only visible to Bend-La Pine student devices.<\/li><li>Internet content is now filtered in a way that is near identical to our school network.&nbsp; (no more Netflix)<\/li><li>The set-up process has been simplified and should require little or no support from staff. <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1rRvUqnv0B0u0rph10Meoxy5MX0JYmjFu\/view?usp=sharing\"><strong>Here are the set-up directions<\/strong><\/a><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Distribution of Hot Spots<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At this time, we plan to support only those families <strong>without internet access <\/strong>who are either involved in Targeted Remote Learning programs or referred by a FAN advocate or building principal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The check-out process is more formal than last year but is also straightforward.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Students or family members obtain a Loan Agreement Form from a school FAN advocate or principal.<\/li><li>The completed form is used to redeem the hotspot from the school media center or the education center.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We will have active hotspots available beginning September 21st.&nbsp; As we get close to that date, I will send both our <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1COb3pjiFza4_az-fXYsWh_xOWZPRTFdw\/view?usp=sharing\"><strong>Loan Agreement Forms<\/strong><\/a> and set up instructions to principals and our FAN team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Last year&#8217;s hotspots \ud83d\ude41 &#8211; <\/strong>We are still looking for over 500 hotspots that were not turned into schools last spring (500 is not a typo).&nbsp; These hotspots are not active and not of any use to students. &nbsp; Please continue to message that we need to collect hotspots so that they can be reactivated and put to use by our families who need them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>iPad Insurance and AUP &#8211; <\/strong>Here are the English versions of the <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1Y899Ymbyvl6JnV0Oi3FM4ISP5zb_VmaB\/view?usp=sharing\">iPad insurance<\/a> form and <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1pO4IwNCAcOt2n57fs9ix6Pm5748WvPiM\/edit?usp=sharing&amp;ouid=110390421839611278156&amp;rtpof=true&amp;sd=true\">the AUP<\/a>.&nbsp; We submitted both for translation but as of today we haven\u2019t received them back. As soon as those come in we will send them out in a separate email.&nbsp; Please remember, purchasing iPad insurance is not mandatory for a child to receive an iPad.&nbsp; However, if a family doesn\u2019t want to pay the high cost of iPad repair due to damage or loss, purchasing the Bend-La Pine Schools\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/1Y899Ymbyvl6JnV0Oi3FM4ISP5zb_VmaB\/view?usp=sharing\">iPad insurance<\/a> will be in their best interest.
