{"id":677,"date":"2022-04-14T12:31:11","date_gmt":"2022-04-14T19:31:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/skip.offenhauser\/?p=677"},"modified":"2022-04-14T12:31:12","modified_gmt":"2022-04-14T19:31:12","slug":"april-14-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/skip.offenhauser\/2022\/04\/14\/april-14-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"<strong>April 14, 2022<\/strong>"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thank you all for your participation and input in the SSI debrief yesterday.&nbsp; While there are hard things going on out there in our schools right now, we still found things to celebrate.&nbsp; For a program that was completely non-existent, and in spite of all the bumps along the way, you have all come so far in year 1.&nbsp; Think about what our programs will look like when we hit the 5 years of implementation mark.&nbsp; Keep doing the good work out there!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Updates, Reminders, Department Info and Rants\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Staffing Plans<\/strong> &#8211; staffing plans are due today but if you need until Friday that won\u2019t be a problem.&nbsp; What happens next once staffing plans are all in?&nbsp; Tammy and Skip will review all the staffing plans to ensure nobody is over or doing something completely crazy.&nbsp; We will then be compiling a list of who needs to be placed and who has open positions.&nbsp; We will need to also coordinate with HR on teachers coming back from a leave and those who have put in for a leave.&nbsp; It gets a bit complicated but in the next week we should be able to start letting people know some more details and whether they might be able to do interviews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Spring Dibels&nbsp; <\/strong>Here is the first draft of the&nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1h8MeFdWRYTvrhcrbd-tO1gj2mf58pPBb\/edit?usp=sharing&amp;ouid=101795580140760974491&amp;rtpof=true&amp;sd=true\">Spring DIBELS schedule.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Personal days<\/strong> &#8211; It\u2019s that time of year where people will be cashing in their personal days.&nbsp; Please remember the 5% rule.&nbsp; No more than 5% of your bargaining unit (certified) can be out on the same day with personal days.&nbsp; As Steve Herron mentioned last week at our meeting, it is up to the school to keep track.&nbsp; Rule of thumb is that for larger schools, It\u2019s 2 people. Please pass this information on to your office managers so they can help you manage these requests so you don\u2019t approve too many for one day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>iPad collection &#8211; <\/strong>Just an FYI that directions for iPad collection will be coming out soon.&nbsp; I recently met with Christie Boen, Tracy Howk and Roy Fuller to brainstrom the steps we will be taking for this process.&nbsp; Our goal was to make it as easy as possible for teachers and librarians.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"color:#f40909\"><strong>The Red Zone &#8211; Things to Share or Do or Put on Your Calendar\u2026<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Foundational Skills Adoption Update-from Julie<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Please share <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1zLbr6wfM7LRu4njAA5FyZJxaM8HBYOsfmQV5Qa6muXg\/edit?usp=sharing\">community viewing sessions<\/a> and digital resources in your&nbsp; family newsletters.&nbsp;<\/li><li>4\/6-4\/28-committee members field testing lessons, materials on display at 5 sites<\/li><li>5\/4- Foundational Skills committee consensus meeting 1:30-4:30pm<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Summer School Enrollment: <\/strong>\u00a0Be sure to pass <a href=\"https:\/\/drive.google.com\/file\/d\/11_tCNVFbfUDCu7cjs2l7mFG8eWeu-GVO\/view?usp=sharing\"><strong>this information<\/strong> <\/a>onto your registrars\/secretaries on how to enroll students into summer school.\u00a0 It is super important that each school is keeping up with these enrollments and are being as accurate as possible with the information.\u00a0 A reminder that all summer school rosters need to be completed by May 1 at the latest, as transportation needs to get started on routing.\u00a0 Thank you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>SIW next week:<\/strong><strong> &nbsp; <\/strong>The \u201coptional\u201d&nbsp; K-1 Foundational Skills training that was scheduled 4\/20 from 1:30-3:00 has been canceled!&nbsp; Which means you do not need to facilitate a session on that day (YEAH). If your school chooses to do a guided planning session to explore the options for curricular materials you could plan an \u201coptional\u201d session and we could timesheet teachers for 1 hour on 4\/20 only.&nbsp; During this time teachers could explore the digital materials or visit one of the five sites where materials are on display.
