Thanks to those who have already done that, and to those who have signed up to participate!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Religion and the Holidays:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You might remember that religious tolerance and inclusive practices were an area that the majority of our staff rated as very low (i.e. poor experiences with this, as employees in our organization) on our DEI staff survey last year.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To improve our practices in this area, please review <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1rLh0J-FPKeTeuvZVI5Ks8bbybAz9u9iP\/edit?usp=sharing&amp;ouid=101901553894515394901&amp;rtpof=true&amp;sd=true\">this<\/a> information (reflection questions on page 1, guidance and resources on page 2) regarding how we can ensure inclusion and belonging for students, families, and staff of all religious and non-religious backgrounds.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please review this with your ICCL, share with your whole staff, introduce with your PTO, and\/or otherwise ensure your school\/team is familiar with this guidance.&nbsp; If you would like to discuss this further or conduct a shared review of your practices, please reach out to Kinsey or to the LEAD Coaches team.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Linguist Link:<\/strong>  <em>All<\/em> staff (including administrators) have access to Linguist Link, and should make their own requests for any translation\/interpretation needs.\u00a0 Please make sure your entire staff know how to set up and use their <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1Vgcy0X0fLqpD_-9JxlwQoemKEN21lCqw\/edit?usp=sharing&amp;ouid=101901553894515394901&amp;rtpof=true&amp;sd=true\">accounts<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A few exceptions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you have an <em>emergency<\/em> (gas leak, lock-down, etc), the district Communications and Multilingual teams will support the communication and translation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you need an <em>immediate interpreter<\/em> (urgent, couldn&#8217;t have been predicted in advance):\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If it&#8217;s not needed for a few hours, put it into LL and mark it urgent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If that doesn&#8217;t work, check whether a CAFE Program <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/172_0OgCW7-4fYCAkPxiGMUVq8gLwIjzoW42Hf1OGmKQ\/edit?usp=sharing\">member<\/a> is available,&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ask a Family Liaison (there are <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1ozWK4qSu4o3hdpM6xczMna19ettHeSmD\/edit?usp=sharing&amp;ouid=101901553894515394901&amp;rtpof=true&amp;sd=true\">times<\/a> they will say No),<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use the On-Demand <a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1az027Hq0XRuWhMdjBH6ZQgo7qb8vqPZKIx00GgPxkJ8\/edit#heading=h.9umo969z4b5n\">form<\/a> (this form is also available on the Linguist Link home page).&nbsp; Follow all directions on the form very carefully.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please do NOT:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Use a bilingual staff member who has not been trained\/qualified\/compensated.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Use Google Translate or other auto-translate tools (S&#8217;mores newsletter translation, etc) <em>at any time<\/em>.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>These practices have significant legal, ethical, quality, and liability issues.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Reach out to Kinsey if you&#8217;d like thought partnership on any of these considerations or to trouble-shoot better systems for translation in your building.&nbsp; Using these systems is not easy when you&#8217;re crunched for time, but it is so valuable and important.&nbsp; We are working hard on improving and increasing options for language services, and your commitment to quality multilingual family communication is appreciated.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>From Colleen Funderburg<\/strong> &#8211;&nbsp; During the week of November 7-11 schools throughout the country will celebrate <em>National School Psychology Week<\/em> (NSPW) to highlight the important work school psychologists do to help students thrive.&nbsp; This year\u2019s theme is \u201cTogether We Shine\u201d. The theme highlights the importance of the collective nature of recovering after adversity.&nbsp; Together we shine brightly, and each of our lights is only more brightly illuminated when put together with the light of those around us.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your school psychologist has posters in Spanish and English to post in your building.&nbsp; Additionally, they may have some plans about incorporating activities or messaging for the week. The district is currently offering a blended model for the First Aid\/CPR class.&nbsp; The class will be done online with a hands-on skills assessment to follow.&nbsp; The online portion of the class should take about three (3) hours with the skills assessment to follow with a first aid\/CPR trainer that will take about 20 minutes.&nbsp; The online course can be done to fit your schedule.&nbsp; Your First Aid\/CPR card will not be issued until all portions of class are completed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The process will be as follows:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Sign up for the class in Performance Matters<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Michelle Spetic will send you a link from HSI\/Medic to get started (info@HSI.com).&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Please check your Junk Mail if it does not appear in your regular inbox.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After each section of the online session, there will be a one or two question quiz.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When scheduled, the hands-on skills assessment schedule will be emailed to you to register if you have completed the online portion.&nbsp; You can only do the in-person skills assessment after you have completed the online portion of the class.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The in-person skills assessment will be done in 30-minute increments.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>First Aid cards will not be sent out until both portions of the class are completed.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please reach out to Michelle Spetic if you have any questions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thank you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>From Eric Powell &#8211; <\/strong>In an effort to catch some discipline data entry errors early, we are going to recommend running quarterly discipline audits in Synergy (and don&#8217;t worry, we&#8217;ll remind you each time!). I know this may be the last thing we want to do right now, but it will save us time in June (I promise). I volunteered to fix the majority of these errors last year (to save you all the effort), but eventually this may be something we&#8217;ll need to fix at the building levels (so let&#8217;s fix them in advance!).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To run a discipline audit, follow these steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1. Go into Synergy<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2. Find the BEN dropdown menu<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3. Click on these dropdowns in order: School Reports &gt; Discipline Incident Reports &gt; Discipline Audits<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">4. Run the following report: Discipline Missing Elements (U-DIA01)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">5.
