Good afternoon staff! I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend and the day today. My weekend was going really well with a mix of rest, family time, and some skiing and hiking, and then I pretty much fumbled the Valentine’s day situation in epic fashion. I’ll spare you most of the details, but Sunday began with Amy coming downstairs fairly early to find me simultaneously watching a soccer game and a rugby match at which point she said, “Happy Valentine’s Day!” And in a moment that I seem uniquely capable of screwing up, I wondered aloud, “Is that today?” I hope all of you faired better. On the bright side, we wound down the day as a family, playing a card game called “Skull King” which I highly recommend. With a short week ahead of us, I hope the following information helps you plan and hit the ground ready tomorrow!

TO DO’s:

  • Teachers, please remember to get your SLGGs dialed by the end of SIW this week. Please reach out if you need any guidance.
  • In case you missed it in the email last week, I believe all would benefit from reviewing this guidance on inclement weather.

ON THE RADAR:

  • Report cards were mailed home this last week. It is certainly possible that we may have some surprised parents that would like more context. Please approach these conversations, if they happen, with patience and grace, and let us know if you need support.
  • Please be prepared to be flexible with lunch locations this week. Even if temps are good, outside conditions on the ground may impact our decisions on whether to head out.
  • The district has asked us to ensure that we have an anonymous way for folks to submit safety concerns. Here is a Google form that will only collect personal information if you choose to share it. We will also add this to our Hybrid site for families to use. It is also just as effective to email Mary or Heather your concerns, if you prefer, and they will be a part of our safety meeting records.
  • For classified staff on evaluation cycle this year, we will be reaching out in the next couple of weeks with details on the timing of that process.
  • With all of the information swirling about exposure at the high school level, you might be curious about our protocol for communicating with families. Here is a link to the protocol document that lives on our hybrid site.
  • Reminder that Scott McDonald and crew curate a tech blog for the district with helpful hints and resources.
  • The other middle school principals and I had a great WebEx conversation with our incoming superintendent, Dr. Cook. He is very excited to be a part of our community. He will be visiting schools the week after spring break.
