Now that the school year is winding down, you and the green team at your school can look back on accomplishments and get certified. If you missed the training about the certification steps, you can view the PowerPoint here<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Check out the certification tracks that you can get certified in – Green lunchrooms, Gardens and Grounds, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Walk and Roll (transportations and Idle Free), Energy Conservation, Environmental Justice, Eater Conservation and Pollution Prevention –https:\/\/www.oregongreenschools.org\/certification<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are some ideas for your application: 1. Learning about energy use and educating the school community about phantom energy and holiday break shut down procedures. 2. Conducting a cafeteria waste audit and then making changes to reduce the waste such as silverware, boat stacking or composting. 3. Collecting and weighing waste for TREX recycling. 4. Engaging students in stewardship trainings outside on schoolyards. 5. Completing an Idle Free campaign and taking steps to reduce the numbers of idling camps. 6. Getting waste stations set up around campus and teaching students and staff about recycling in Deschutes County. 7. Educating green team about water in Bend and how to conserve at home and at school. 8. Watching Micro plastic madness with students and then reducing plastic waste in the school<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once you decide on the certification track – Fill out the Part 1 Form<\/a> about what you learned about the sustainability challenge at school. PLEASE MAKE COPY.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Next fill out Part 2 Form<\/a>, about the efforts you and the team took to mitigate the problem and make change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After the forms are filled out, you can email them directly to me and I will work with the OGS coordinator to get a folder set up for you and award your efforts for the year. I hope to have your students at the Green School Showcase so they can share their efforts and then be awarded. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
