{"id":1921,"date":"2024-06-17T19:40:13","date_gmt":"2024-06-17T19:40:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/the-special-edge\/?p=1921"},"modified":"2024-06-17T19:40:13","modified_gmt":"2024-06-17T19:40:13","slug":"june-17-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.bend.k12.or.us\/the-special-edge\/2024\/06\/17\/june-17-2024\/","title":{"rendered":"JUNE 17, 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>FROM SEAN REINHART<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">August 2024 In-service Week Reminder<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As the school year winds down and you all get a well-deserved break, I want to put so me August events on your radar.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Tuesday, 8\/27:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To kick-off the first day back for all staff, there will be a virtual all-district welcome back which you will attend from your school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Wednesday 8\/28 \u2013 8AM-4PM:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Student Services staff (nurses and certified) will attend a conference style training at Caldera High School.&nbsp; The day will start with breakfast and registration beginning at 7:45. After a whole group welcome and introduction, participants will split into job-alike cohorts for the first break-out session, followed by three additional choice-based break-out sessions with a delicious lunch catered by BLS nutrition services.&nbsp; All choice break-out session have been planned and developed based on feedback and requests we received from you.&nbsp; To close the day, we will have a community resource fair with featuring a host of partners from around the region from 3-4 PM.&nbsp; Please stay tuned for more details about the event and descriptions of the break-out sessions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Thursday 8\/29 and Friday 8\/30 \u2013 8AM-11AM:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All \u201cnew to the district\u201d inclusion EAs will receive onboarding training.&nbsp; Student Services central office team will host this \u201ctwo mornings\u201d &nbsp;training to support the great start for our new inclusion EAs.&nbsp; At the end of each session, EAs will return to the buildings to work the rest of the day with your teams. &nbsp;This training will coincide with the instructional EA trainings that will occur on those same days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please see the Certified August In-Service Week Calendar&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1MyZDd61ri9at7OF8a-QbaA5jbwqYWZ_u\/edit\">HERE<\/a>&nbsp;for a more detailed version of what the week will entail.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Inclusion EAs will report to work on Tuesday 8\/27, Thursday 8\/29, and Friday 8\/30.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s all for now.&nbsp; I wish everyone a strong finish and a graceful and proud slide into summer break!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">FROM THE DESK OF COLLEEN FUNDERBURG<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Curriculum Update<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Below is what has been ordered for fall!&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All <strong>ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS<\/strong> will receive:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Literacy Materials<\/em>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Online subscriptions for Countdown, Blast, and HD Word<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>HD Word Student consumables ordered for the total number of students with SDI in reading<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Math Materials<\/em>:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>None &#8211;\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>All Bridges Support and Intervention is available digitally. For these instances, please make a note of who the 1:1 is with (SSEA Jane Doe &#8211; 3 hours a day).
