Do you have a Google calendar setup and your always logging into your Google account to check on it ? Well you have the option to sync your Google Calendar with iCal which might be something you’d never thought of before until now. The setup process is very simple:

  • Launch iCal
  • From the iCal main menu, click on Preferences
  • Click on the Accounts tab
  • Click the + icon in the lower left corner
  • Select Google for Account Type, enter your Google credentials and click Create

That’s it, now your iCal will automatically sync with your Google Calendar and on a side note Google Calendar also works on your iPhone or iPad too.

In many Mac OS X applications you can activate a nice hidden feature that will bring up a large list of words starting with the letters you have typed so far. Pressing the F5 key or Escape key will bring up this menu for words you can select.

Just a reminder this only works with Mac OS X applications, so for example it will work with Pages and Numbers, but not Word or Excel.

Quitting Apps Faster

Say you either want to install some new software and it asks you to close out all open applications, or just wanting to close out applications to free up your computer. There’s no need to move to each program and quit one at a time. Pressing Command+Tab will bring up Application Switcher, keeping Command pressed down, press and hold Q. Each application quits in turn and you will be notified if there are any unsaved changes to documents. Below is what Application Switcher will show.
