THOUGHT OF THE WEEK

During SIW we looked at data related to the achievement gap for historically underserved students

  • students who have special needs
  • linguistically diverse students
  • students of color
  • students living in poverty

Something to consider, we have colleagues in this building who are a part of one or more of the above 4 sub categories. These colleagues are here in our building educating our students because a teacher in their life did something different, adjusted a practice, made an empathic connection that allowed our colleague to make it through a system that is not set up to support their success. I challenge us all to continue the work that supports all of our students succeed, especially those who we are historically failing.
