Below is a snapshot of our near-final draft.  The one big caveat is that the districts gets the anticipated money from the State that allowed us to create our last Staffing Plan.  If that money does not come, and we are likely to know this by the end of June, then we&#8217;ll need to create an entire new master schedule with a reduced staffing allocation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We also may need to make some changes if we notice a mistake or find an unresolvable problem. Comments we would add are very similar to what is currently available \u2013 minus the \u201conline learning\u201d phrase. Because there will be a message added to transcripts noting the school closure\/pandemic this spring, I think people will be reminded that learning occurred via this format for the years to come.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Support Team Meeting Cancelled<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Our regularly scheduled Tuesday at 11 am meeting will be cancelled.  I (Paul) double-booked myself for a weeklong CPS &#8211; Level 2 training.  We won&#8217;t plan on having another one so if you have any specific student\/family concerns feel let me know.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Bits and Bobs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>You may have recently heard that <strong>our school buildings\/facilities will be open for summer programming starting June 15<\/strong>, as long as these groups\/organizations follow ODE guidance, including social distancing. Boys and Girls Club and Park and Rec., in addition to our own athletic programs, will be the likely users of our facilities during this time.<\/li><li>The ELL Dept is partnering with Migrant Education to provide summer school for emergent bilingual students.&nbsp; We have additional (limited) space in the program for ELL students who do not otherwise qualify for migrant ed services.&nbsp; We are prioritizing students who:<ul><li>Are credit-deficient and at risk of not graduating by Aug (seniors)<\/li><li>Are earning \u201cincompletes\u201d this spring in math or language arts (9th-11th)<\/li><li>Have a history of significant learning struggles, or are in the process of team problem-solving<\/li><li>Are K-2 students (early learning)<\/li><li>Have not made progress on language proficiency assessments (long-term ELLs)<\/li><li>Have parents\/family who are unable to support academics at home<\/li><li>ELL\/Language Specialists are working to identify and refer potential candidates.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Here is a short article out of the Markkula Center for Applied Ethics from Santa Clara University entitled \u201c<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scu.edu\/ethics\/focus-areas\/more\/resources\/unselfie\/\" target=\"_blank\">How to build empathy in children<\/a>.\u201d This article puts a spotlight on psychologist Michele Borba \u2013 who was highlighted in a recent <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=bkEVof406qQ&amp;feature=youtu.be\" target=\"_blank\">webinar by Character Strong<\/a>. Check out <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/characterstrong.lpages.co\/educator-resources\/\" target=\"_blank\">these free resources<\/a>.<\/li><li><strong>Dean Richards<\/strong> will be supporting secondary schools next year as the \u201cSecondary Coordinator of Professional Learning and Instructional Design.\u201d&nbsp; In this role he will be working on secondary multi-tiered systems of support, coordinating professional learning across the secondary system and supporting administrators on building instructional needs.&nbsp; Dean says, \u201cI\u2019m excited to be able to work on instructional systems and school design plans to support student learning.\u201d<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Reminders:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>PBIS<\/strong><ul><li>Our latest distance learning student recognition video has been (or will be soon) posted to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/classroom.google.com\/u\/0\/c\/NDIzMDgwODY1MzRa\">HDMS student google classroom<\/a>.<\/li><li>Next PBIS coffee hour will be\u00a0<strong>June 3rd from 7:30-8:30am<\/strong>\u00a0in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bendk12.webex.com\/meet\/nole.kennedy\">Nole\u2019s WebEx room<\/a>. We will draw one staff winner from the elective teams at 8:00am- must be present to win! Congrats to Brad Thompson for winning this past week!<\/li><li>The\u00a0<strong>PE and SPED teachers<\/strong>\u2018 nominations are due on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/document\/d\/1gZaBJsYMB33kLZ_2-i8uuF4gC_jO9c_7uzEKqESuSeI\/edit?ts=5ea0b8a4\">this document<\/a>\u00a0on June 3rd. They will record their own individual nomination video and we\u2019ll edit it together.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><strong>ICCL Office Hours<\/strong>: Optional, drop-in ICCL meetings are continuing every Thursday from 2:00-3:00pm.
