The Coast Trip is May 29th-31st!
Lots of info went out last week about our annual coast trip for 4th-8th graders. Your student should have brought home a packet that includes a letter with information, a packing list, permission slip, medication form, kayaking release, and their VRB paycheck if they worked or sold tickets. The funds earned at VRB are applied to the cost of the trip, which is $200 this year. Feel free to check in with the office if you have questions or if you’d like to know your student’s balance owed. All forms and money is due by Monday, May 20th. Cash, check, card or Paypal is accepted. Scholarships are available, please call the office or email [email protected] to request.
An email went out on Friday 5/10 with all of the forms linked, as well as a chaperone interest form. Please fill out this form if you are interested in volunteering at the coast! There will be a chaperone meeting Monday, May 20th at 5:30 in the library.

8th Grade Play: Ghostbusters!
Our Elders have been hard at work on their original adaptation of Ghostbusters. The week of June 3-7 will be all about the play for our Elders. The 3rd and 4th will be rehearsals during school. The 5th will be a special performance at school for Westside students. The 6th will be a daytime performance for neighboring schools and an evening performance (Time TBD) for our families and the public! Tickets will go on sale soon!
Whychus Creek Restoration Adventure Olders & Elders (not in the play), Monday, June 3rd
We have an exciting opportunity for all students to do some river restoration! We are so grateful for our partnership with the Upper Deschutes Watershed Council to organize a few projects on various water sources in our area. We will take a total of 3 trips over the next month. Our last trip is Monday, June 3rd. We will be taking Olders and any Elders not involved in the play to Sisters to help with riparian planting, pulling invasive weeds, and cleaning up trash near Whychus Creek. We will continue to learn about healthy watersheds and what it means to be a steward of the river.
5th Grade Move Up & Welcome Adventure for New WVMS Elders, Monday, June 10th
We will take our soon-to-be 6th graders and invite our new incoming middle school students to join us at Hollinshead Barn for a getting to know you day of fun and community building. We are excited to celebrate this group of students becoming Elders and welcome some new Elders too! Permission slips to come.
