Goal Setting Conferences Sept 19th-27th

If you haven’t already done so, please sign up for our upcoming goal setting conferences. These conferences are a valuable opportunity for us to discuss your child’s goals and any questions or concerns you may have. Your involvement is key to your child’s success, and we look forward to meaningful conversations that will help us work together as a team. Call or visit Marcie in the Office.

Please Note: If your conference is at 4:00pm or later, please enter through the front rotunda doors – the main entrance to the office will be closed.

WVMS Friends Council Meeting Monday, Sept 25th at 5:30pm in the Great Room

If you weren’t able to make the morning meeting on Sept 7th, join us next Monday to learn about our non-profit organization and how you can become involved in our school. Our agenda will be about volunteer opportunities & a quick training. There will also be Q&A time to answer questions about WVMS. If you’d like to attend, students are welcome to join an extended After Care (for this meeting only) in the Great Room from 5:30-6:30.

If you happen to be in your child’s goal setting conference during the meeting time, please check in with Wendy in the rotunda or join late.

Picture Day is Sept 29th

Smile!  Fall pictures will be taken Friday, September 29th.  All students will be photographed.  Find order forms here, or look for them to come home soon. Please have your student turn them in to the office on or before picture day.  Online orders can be placed up to four days after picture day, but shipping charges may apply.

Camp Tamarack Outdoor School (5th Grade), Oct 4th-6th

Our 5th graders will be headed to Camp Tamarack Outdoor School October 4th – 6th.  Forms went home with students last week.  Check your email for another copy, or contact the office.  Forms are due by next Friday, 9/22.

Students will leave at 9:00am on Wednesday, 10/4 and return to school at 12:00pm on Friday, 10/6.  If you would like to drop off a lunch for your student you can, otherwise they will eat school lunch on Friday.

New Cell Phone Policy

The district’s middle schools have recently revised their cell phone policy with a focus on enhancing the learning environment, promoting good social habits, and ensuring school safety. At Westside Village in the Elder Community, we kindly request that students keep their phones stored away during instructional time, with designated breaks for phone use. We will provide reminders to students who may inadvertently disrupt learning or engage with inappropriate content on their phones. If disruptions persist, we may request the phone be checked in with the office or, in extreme cases, remain at home.

For our K-5 students, we encourage leaving phones at home or checking them in at the office to maintain a positive and responsible learning atmosphere. Our ultimate goal is to cultivate responsible digital citizenship and create a conducive learning environment, and we sincerely thank you for your support in achieving this vision.

New Pick-Up Policy

The end of the school day at Westside Village is an important time for fitness and community. Therefore, we ask that between 3:00 and 3:35, students not be picked up from school unless there is an emergency.  If your student leaves early for a regular sports practice or activity, please arrange to pick them up at or before 3:00. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.
