Hello Families!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thank you so much again for all the treats post conference week. You are appreciated! Please get in touch with your child\u2019s advisor to schedule a conference if you haven\u2019t had one yet.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We know that times are stressful and there are a lot of anxious feelings due to the election, horrible weather, wars, and the smoke at home. First Six Week Celebration, 10\/17 4:30-6:00<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Join us for our first Six Week Celebration of the year on Thursday, October 17th from 4:30 to 6:00 at WVMS.\u00a0 We will have a community meeting to go over the family handbook, expectations and share a six week checklist. This is a great time to connect with staff and other families, see what your students have been working on, enjoy a meal and see a performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Harvest Fun<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It is almost time for our harvest celebration which takes place during school (for the students) on Monday and Tuesday, October 28th and 29th. This is always a very fun time filled with crafts, sweet treats, academics related to harvest, and of course a Costume Fun Run on Tuesday. Students will rotate through festive activities including face painting, crafting, coding, baking, decorating and learning more about waste reduction, recycling, composting and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A few things to note about the harvest celebration:<\/strong><\/h6>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 Students are welcome to dress in costumes but they need to be appropriate for all. Absolutely NO scary, gory or cultural appropriation.<\/h6>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 Please do not send small pieces as they inevitably get lost throughout the business of the day and we will not be here on the 31st to help find them!<\/h6>\n\n\n\n
\u2013 All students will participate in the fun run; please send your student with comfortable shoes.<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

-We encourage upcycled and homemade costumes. On Monday, students will have an opportunity to make a mask to wear instead of a costume.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NO SCHOOL Days in October, November<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Oct 30-Nov 1:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NO SCHOOL for District Conference Days. Westside Village will be closed for all Westside students, K-8, these three days. We do our conferences earlier in the school year, so there will be no conferences for Westside families these days. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nov 11:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NO SCHOOL in observation of the Veterans’ Day holiday. We would like to give our thanks to those that have and continue to serve our country. Thank you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nov 25-29:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

NO SCHOOL for Thanksgiving break. We hope you are able to enjoy some time with your loved ones, rest, and get outside in nature.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scooters & Bikes <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Many of our students enjoy riding their bikes to school and bringing scooters to ride during safe play. We allow this, but we must ask that families send locks for the bikes and scooters and have them locked to the bike rack outside the main office. We are no longer able to store bikes or scooters in the building. Thanks for your understanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Middle and High School Sporting Events<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Many middle and high schools have adopted a policy regarding elementary and middle school age students attending sporting events. We feel it is appropriate to follow the same guidelines: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

To ensure the safety and supervision of all our students, we require that middle and elementary school students be accompanied by a parent\/guardian when attending middle\/high school games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This policy helps us maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated and will contribute to a positive experience for all involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
