Share Your Love for Westside Village Magnet School!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dear Families,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thank you for being such an important part of our Westside Village Magnet School community! We appreciate your support and dedication to our school. We are currently recruiting new families to join our community and need your help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We would love for you to share your love for our school on social media. Whether it\u2019s sharing our posts, leaving a review on Google or Greatschools.org, talking about what brought you to Westside, highlighting our wonderful field trips, celebrating our time outdoors, or discussing our restorative practices, your voice matters and can inspire others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, we have some logistics that really benefit our families. Our affordable aftercare program is available to all students, including drop-in care for added flexibility. The school day begins at 8:35 AM, which aligns well with many family schedules. We also provide a morning snack free of charge, along with universal breakfast and lunch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your engagement helps strengthen our community and showcases the special experiences our community offers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Choice Options Lottery is Open<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Choice Options Lottery opened on January 2nd.  Visit this link<\/a> for more information. If you know of any families that would be a good fit, send them our way! We will have two Info Nights: Monday, January 13th and Thursday, March 6th (Tour at 5:15, Info Session at 5:30)<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Remember that all incoming siblings of Westside students MUST complete an application.  Current Westside Village students do not need to re-apply.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Entry into the Choice Options lottery, Dual Immersion lottery, and Priority Area Change Requests all require a current enrollment in a Bend-La Pine School for the school year requested. Enrollment for the 2025-2026 is open.

8th Graders- Priority ACR Window Closes Jan 24<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

8th grade families- If your student would like to attend a high school that is not your boundary school or if they are interested in one of the Choice Option high schools, now is the time to get those applications in! The deadline for Priority ACR (Area Change Request) and Choice Options Applications is next Friday, January 24th. You can still apply after this date, however, it will not be prioritized. Donations Needed by Jan 31<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Innovative Art Camp (for students during school) is coming up during conference week and we could use some help with materials for one of our rotations. We are doing a grocery bag sewing project and we need Duck Canvas and 100% Cotton Fabric for it. It can be found at Joanne’s (Aisle C32 and the Quilter’s Aisle to be exact!). We need 2\/3rds of a yard of each for each bag, plus one spool of matching thread. No scraps, please. Thank you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

MLK Day of Service, Jan 20<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There is NO SCHOOL on Monday, January 20th! <\/strong>Join us at WVMS from 10am to Noon as we work together to beautify our school grounds. Celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day with us by giving back to our community. Let\u2019s come together in the spirit of service and make a difference!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Youth Truth Survey<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Youth Truth Survey is a district-wide survey that we ask students, families, and staff to complete so that we can better our schools. Our Bend LaPine District and schools use the information from the survey to plan for school improvement.

2024-25 Oregon Statewide Tests (OSAS)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This school year our 3rd through 8th grade students will take the Oregon Statewide Tests. Parents have the right to opt their child out of the English Language Arts and\/or the Math tests. We have made it a mission to be creative and smart about how we administer the OR Statewide Tests. We are not going to make students sit for hours at a time testing; we are going to offer them fun snacks, breaks when needed, and all the support we can give. We would like to take this opportunity to turn this challenge into a fun and meaningful experience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
