Non School Day Camp Apr 16-18<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There is NO SCHOOL April 16-18 for district conferences (Westside has already had conferences, but school is still closed these days).  Friends of Westside Village offers non school day camps at Westside Village.  Visit Bend Parks and Rec<\/a> to sign up!  Westside Village Camp is Activity #106510.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

VRB Tickets are On Sale!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

What is VRB?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our annual fundraiser, Village Rhythm and Bingo (VRB), is right around the corner! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When: Thursday, April 24th, 5:30-8:30<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Where: Unitarian Church, 61980 Skyline Ranch Rd, Bend<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Who: All Westside families, plus your friends, family, neighbors!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Staff, students, volunteers, and Friends of Westside Village have been working hard to make this a memorable event with good food, a variety of beverages, dessert, raffle prizes and, of course, bingo! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While this is an event for the adults, free babysitting at the school is included with ticket purchase and is a great time for the kids!  Babysitting begins at 5:00 at Westside Village and ends right after event, around 8:45.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tickets are $45 each. Buy your ticket online at www.friendsofwestside.com<\/a> or in the office with cash, check, or card. This is not a cash only event, however we strongly encourage people to bring cash if possible<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supporter donations are always welcome if you would like to support the event but are unable to attend. Any amount is welcome for supporter donations and can be paid online or in the office. Visit this link<\/a> to make a donation. Thank you!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SMILE! Spring Picture Day is April 29<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Spring Picture Day is Tuesday, April 29th.  Picture forms will go home soon.  This is an optional picture day; only those that return their forms or order online BEFORE picture day will be photographed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Family BBQ Lunch & Variety Show, May 1<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Thursday, May1st families are invited to join their students for\u00a0lunch and a Variety Show for our 5th Six Week Celebration from 12:00-2:00.\u00a0Please bring your ID to sign in<\/strong>\u00a0and arrive at 12:00 to allow time to sign in.\u00a0Lunch will not be served after 12:45\/1:00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please RSVP <\/strong>so Ms. Kelly knows how much food to prepare. We will also pre print name badges for those that RSVP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Price is $5.00 for adults and $3.50 for siblings. WVMS student meals will be free of charge, but any family attending will need to pay for their meal. Exact change (cash or check, no cards) is appreciated, or you can buy your meal in advance on our friendsofwestside.com<\/a> site!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cell Phone Policy Reminder<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

District wide, cell phone usage is limited this year. Please read the full policy here<\/a>. Thanks for your support in helping us create the best possible learning environment. A couple key points from that policy:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elementary\/Middle School<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students are not permitted to have phones or wireless earbuds during the school day. Phones and other personal devices are to be turned off and stored in their lockers for the entire school day, from the morning bell to end-of-day dismissal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Smartwatches<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Many students wear watches that can access apps on their phone. Students are not permitted to use a smartwatch to access mobile apps or the internet, or to send and receive messages (text or call) during class periods. Elementary and middle school students are not permitted to use smartwatches for those purposes anytime during the school day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2024-25 Oregon Statewide Tests (OSAS)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This school year our 3rd through 8th grade students will take the Oregon Statewide Tests. Parents have the right to opt their child out of the English Language Arts and\/or the Math tests. We have made it a mission to be creative and smart about how we administer the OR Statewide Tests. We are not going to make students sit for hours at a time testing; we are going to offer them fun snacks, breaks when needed, and all the support we can give. We would like to take this opportunity to turn this challenge into a fun and meaningful experience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Join the VRB Donation Committee<\/strong>!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We need your help!  Looking for volunteers to help us gather donations for our annual FUNdraiser… Village Rhythm and Bingo!  Know of a business in town that would be willing to donate items or services?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is VRB?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Westside Village Rhythm & Bingo is our only FUNdraiser of the year! An evening of live music, delicious food, BINGO, raffle prizes and more! The event is 21+, but a ticket comes with free babysitting at Westside Village and is super fun for the kids!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event will be held this year on Thursday, April 24th, 2025 at the Unitarian Church. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

VRB is more than just a fundraiser. This event gives the older\/elder kiddos an opportunity to apply for their jobs at the event, from kitchen\/serving jobs to babysitting which gives them real life experience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It truly is such a fun event. Parent’s night out for a good cause!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
