What is VRB?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

A 21+ fundraiser at the Unitarian Church \u2014 equal parts fun, food, and community. We’ve handled the kids (childcare + dinner at WVMS), so you can show up, let loose, and actually finish a sentence. Join us Thursday, April 23rd from 5:30-8:30!

Your $50 admission ticket includes: Dinner catered by Parrilla, one set of BINGO cards (5 games), one drink ticket, and childcare with dinner for the little ones at WVMS.<\/strong>

Add-on extra BINGO cards, raffle tickets, heads or tails necklaces & golden tickets online or at the event.

5:30 PM<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 Doors open! Check in, mingle, grab a drink, snag your raffle tickets, extra BINGO cards, heads or tails necklaces and golden tickets.

SMILE! Spring Picture Day, Apr 28<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Spring Picture Day is Tuesday, April 28th.  Picture forms will go home soon.  This is an optional picture day; only those that return their forms or order online BEFORE picture day will be photographed. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2025-26 Oregon Statewide Tests (OSAS)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This school year our 3rd through 8th grade students will take the Oregon Statewide Tests. Parents have the right to opt their child out of the English Language Arts and\/or the Math tests. We have made it a mission to be creative and smart about how we administer the OR Statewide Tests. We are not going to make students sit for hours at a time testing; we are going to offer them fun snacks, breaks when needed, and all the support we can give. We would like to take this opportunity to turn this challenge into a fun and meaningful experience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Naglieri Test<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Every year, the Bend La Pine School District administers the Naglieri Test to all 2nd grade students as well as 3rd \u2013 5th grade students new to the district. The Naglieri Nonverbal Test of Ability is a brief, nonverbal measure of general ability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recruitment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We need our families’ help; we want a full class of kindergarteners! We have room in other grades as well, especially our hard hit COVID years, 4th and 5th grade. Please send out flyers and postcards to family and friends!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WVMS Giveback Night at Bend TEAL (Tea + Art Lounge)<\/strong>, May 19<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Former Westside teacher, Sarah Swoffer, has opened a fabulous new spot downtown Bend called TEAL (Tea + Art Lounge)<\/a>. She invites our community to visit her space where we can slow down, sip intentionally and reconnect with creativity. TEAL will donate 20% of food and beverage sales back to Friends of Westside Village!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

NexTrex Recycling Challenge<\/strong>, Collect Your Plastic Bags!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We’ve collected 360 pounds so far! <\/strong>Weigh your plastic at home and let us know how much you’ve taken to be recycled OR bring your plastic to school and we’ll weigh it for you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Help us reach our goal of collecting 1,000 lbs of clean plastic bags and film in one year! Westside Village is participating in the NexTrex Recycling Challenge starting in February and we need your help! You can collect at home and bring to the school OR collect at home, weigh it, and take it to one of our participating drop-off retailer locations for recycling<\/a>. Make sure to email Ms. Marcie your weights so that we can log it! marcie.gibson@bend.k12.or.us<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plastic bags and film packaging are important durable and lightweight protection for food and merchandise in transit. But these materials SHOULD NOT be recycled in most curbside carts or single stream programs. Thankfully, many grocers and retailers and some communities provide specific collection bins for bags and film to be recycled separately from other recyclables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
