Coast Trip, May 27-29<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

4th – 8th grade families: We are headed to the Oregon Coast May 27 – 29! The students will stay in Newport and meals will be at South Beach State Park (the group sites).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We love chaperones! Please fill out this chaperone interest form<\/a> if you are interested in joining us. Most chaperones stay in a hotel in Newport or book a campsite at South Beach State Park (there could be some room at the group sites; let us know if you are interested).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coast\u00a0Trip\u00a0information, permission slip packets and VRB credit vouchers came home last week. We need all of the BLUE papers signed and returned<\/strong>. The cost is $225 this year.\u00a0 Those that sold tickets, worked VRB, babysat, or helped after school received a credit voucher and should deduct that amount from $225 to get the total owed.\u00a0 Feel free to call the office if you have questions or if you need a scholarship. Signed slips and money are due no later than Weds, May 20th. Pay with cash, check or card in the office or online<\/a> (enter your specific amount owed as a donation). Call the office if you need help with your amount owed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nurse Susan will be on site Friday, May 22nd and Tuesday, May 26th for medication drop off. Students may NOT carry their own medication<\/strong>. Please send only what your student will need for the trip in a pharmacy-labeled, non-expired bottle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Youth Truth Family Summary and Feedback<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Our school uses the Youth Truth Survey (family, staff and student) input to update our School Improvement Plan. Thank you for your participation! We’d love some additional feedback. Mystery Festival & 6th Six Week Celebration<\/strong>, Jun 9<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Come be the audience for the students\u2019 research and projects at our Mystery Festival on Tuesday, June 9th from 4:30-6:30!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As always, you\u2019ll have an opportunity to connect with your student\u2019s teachers and other families, enjoy a meal and some performances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Last Two Days of School Dismissal Times<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Wednesday, June 10th will be a FULL school day; students will be dismissed at 3:35 pm. The last day of school, Thursday, June 11th, will be EARLY RELEASE; students will be dismissed at 2:05 pm.  There will be no after care on the last day of school this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

State Testing Continues<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Students continue with state testing. Please make sure your student shows up to school well rested and with a charged iPad!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2025-26 Oregon Statewide Tests (OSAS)<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This school year our 3rd through 8th grade students will take the Oregon Statewide Tests. Parents have the right to opt their child out of the English Language Arts and\/or the Math tests. We have made it a mission to be creative and smart about how we administer the OR Statewide Tests. We are not going to make students sit for hours at a time testing; we are going to offer them fun snacks, breaks when needed, and all the support we can give. We would like to take this opportunity to turn this challenge into a fun and meaningful experience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Naglieri Test<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Every year, the Bend La Pine School District administers the Naglieri Test to all 2nd grade students as well as 3rd \u2013 5th grade students new to the district. The Naglieri Nonverbal is a brief, nonverbal measure of general ability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Friends of WVMS\/Bend Parks Summer Camp<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Westside summer programs are a partnership between Friends of Westside and Bend Parks and Rec.  Miss Lovely is our camp director. We are running 10 weeks of camp programs<\/a>! Activity number 206510.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please feel free to reach out to her directly for help with enrollment overrides.  If you need single day options, if camps are full, if age requirements need adjusting, or you need a Friends scholarship consideration if you are not eligible through the BPRD scholarship program.  Lovely can help you!  541-419-8478.  Happy Summer!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

WVMS Giveback Night at Bend TEAL (Tea + Art Lounge)<\/strong>, May 19<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Former Westside teacher, Sarah Swoffer, has opened a fabulous new spot downtown Bend called TEAL (Tea + Art Lounge)<\/a>. She invites our community to visit her space where we can slow down, sip intentionally and reconnect with creativity. TEAL will donate 20% of food and beverage sales back to Friends of Westside Village!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Community Give Back Day at Par<\/strong>rilla, Jun 11<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Celebrate the last day of school with a meal that gives back! Parrilla is hosting a Community Give Back Day on Thursday, June 11th \u2014 20% of every sale goes straight to Westside Village. Bring the family, skip the dishes, and make your dinner do double duty for the Village. Mark your calendars and spread the word!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
