Important Information
Welcoming Students Back – As we get ready to welcome students back in Hybrid, here is an article from the Washington Post about welcoming students and staff safely back to in-person learning.
Staff Reporting Back to School – Staff (certified and classified) will need to report back to our building no later than Monday, Jan. 25th. This is the first day of asynchronous teaching, and two weeks before Hybrid starts.
YouthTruth Survey – Our YouthTruth student survey day is this Wednesday, 1/13. Please plan to administer the 10-15 minute student survey during 5th period, between 11:00 – 11:40. Stace will email the link and final details a day in advance. If you have any questions please contact Stace Baker.
To Do
SLGG’s (Due February 26th)– SLGG’s are ready to go! They are now in TalentEd. Staff are required to have two SLGG’s, but the state has shifted the requirements for the year to allow room for focusing on student engagement, family engagement, and the social-emotional health of students. Academic goals may be considered. For those of you who want to know all of the expectations you can find them here. It has been recommended by the state and this committee that administrators collaborate with staff to establish school-wide goals. Teachers may also choose individual goals in collaboration with their administrator.
A simplified version of the SLGG form can be found here. Although we do not have to focus on academics we still need to include the 8 required goal components which you will see on the form. We realize these goals are not like our standard goals and may be difficult to objectively assess. Encourage staff to use creative ways to assess growth such as student surveys, anecdotal records, attendance, or other means that may not be typically used to assess growth.
The committee also brainstormed some examples of possible goals. Below you will find links to the examples that can be transferred directly into the SLGG form.

Instructional Practices
Our Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) have been spending most of their time trying to provide support in a variety of creative ways. One way is through their weekly blog. Every 1-2 weeks, they are organizing a post around a central topic, providing a variety of resources to support your own pedagogy, reflection, and expansion.
To learn more about a second way, visit the blog. There, you’ll find a brief video and post encouraging you to observe a colleague sometime during the remainder of this school year.
They know there are three different possibilities for delivering instruction you may want to observe, and they want to support all of them:
1) WebEx Virtual Session
2) Pre-Recorded Instruction/Canvas content delivery
3) In-person (this will be an option once we have entered into the hybrid schedule and enough time has passed that your administrator believes an in-classroom observation to be appropriate)

Canvas
As we approach the end of the semester and, the end of the first grading period, our Canvas Support Staff (Spring, Baisch, Stukel, Christian) have been asked to start putting the pieces in place for a smooth transition, re. Canvas-Synergy. The more they can direct teachers in the best ways to go about this process, the better chance for success! Stace and I will be asking you to follow the directions of our Canvas Team and to get help from them sooner rather than later. To get you started, please check out this End of the Semester Checklist

A reminder about accommodations and modifications…
Accommodations:
- An alteration of environment, curriculum format, or equipment that allows an individual with a disability to gain access to content and/or complete assigned tasks
Modifications:
- Provides meaningful experience to content at a level that is appropriate for the student to grow in a way that meets their individualized needs in an equitable environment
- Experience the CORE to their potential
- Produce a product/outcome at their grade level
- Participate in activities, projects, labs, etc. to the best of their ability
An accommodation changes how a student learns the material. A modification changes what a student is taught or expected to learn.

Our Sped Team and Sped Students are working hard to get caught up. Please make it as simple as possible for these students to complete assignments in these last few weeks. We are finding that some teachers are still locking students out of assignments. This shouldn’t be happening.
