Bowling with Spheros

Rebecca, at Ponderosa Elementary School, has been teaching her 1st-grade classes all about Spheros. For the last activity, she borrowed the bowling pins and the pool noodles (for bumpers) from the PE teacher and did Sphero Bowling.

These are the lessons she learned:

  1. Have 7 lanes instead of 5 to get more kids playing.
  2. Buy bowling pins that were not weighted. Her bowling pins had sand in them so she taped a Lego to the bottom to make it tip over easier.
  3. Use the Drive feature within the app for making the Spheros bowl. The Draw feature didn’t get enough speed to knock over the pins.
  4. The students loved this activity. They gave Rebecca lots of hugs at the end.
  5. This was super fun and worth the effort to set everything up.

Here is a flyer created by Rebecca explaining how to do Sphero Bowling:

If you want support using Spheros in your library, please contact Tracy Howk. She would be thrilled to help!
