First Chapter Fridays

Some of our media managers and teacher-librarians are already doing First Chapter Fridays. If you’re not familiar with what that is, it entails picking out a book that you want to share with students and reading them the first chapter in order to “hook” them. It always helps if the first chapter is really interesting.

To go along with this idea, Follett has a bunch of First Chapter Videos where the author reads the first chapter of their book. This might be fun to intersperse on those First Chapter Fridays. The videos range from roughly 2-30 minutes. Make sure the title is appropriate for the grade level you’re showing it to and as always, be sure to watch the video yourself before showing it.
