FYI – Lorin will also be out on Monday.

Tech Advisory Initiative

We have been asked to select a teacher from each school to participate in an advisory forum to discuss our digital conversion vision, the tech resources we have available, and options for the future.

We are looking for individuals who are passionate about teaching in a digitally integrated classroom. They should be someone who acknowledges the challenges of one to one devices, but who looks for solutions to overcome those challenges.  They should be willing to work collaboratively with our technology support services and seek improved methods and approaches to better serve our teachers and students.

The first meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, November 14th from 8:00-11:00.  Two more meetings will be scheduled later in the year.  If you are interested in this opportunity please email me right away and thank you for your interest.

Staff Meeting Reminder

Tuesday 11/7 8:05-8:45

Agenda Items

  • Thriving Citizen Refresher
  • Veterans Day – Activities, Assembly

Middle School Move Up Day

Middle schools have asked us to save May 22 for move up day.  I put this on the Highland Staff Calendar already as an all-day event.  We just need to avoid scheduling anything that might interfere with our 5th graders visiting their future middle school that day.

Transportation

Some new things are on the horizon around transportation and parent communication.  This is a brief overview:

  • GPS – These units are currently being installed on all of our busses.  With a downloadable app, parents will be able to track their child’s bus location.
  • RFID – If a parent is interested and volunteers, their child will carry a card (think plastic card swipe) that will, again with a downloadable app, let the parent know when their child gets on the bus and when they exit the bus.  This should be up and running by this December.

Field Trip Forms

Please remember field trip forms should be completed and approved prior to scheduling the field trip.  The checklist at the bottom is extremely helpful to help avoid conflicts and make sure everyone is in the know.  The more we know in the office, the better we can support you.

Calendar

Please, please, please use the google calendar for planning to help avoid conflicts.  We have printed versions also available in the staff room on one of the Fridges.   Thanks so much!

Have a great weekend!  Play, rest, stay off your computer and have fun.
