- 10/2 SIW: The District SIW this Wednesday 10/2 is being turned back over to sites for our own professional development with the understanding we will complete an Equity & Excellence Prioritization Session as a staff on another Wednesday prior to November 13th. We would most likely need to complete this on 10/16 in order to meet the deadline.
Will Hoover’s Film & Time Capsule
I shared this with a few, but not everyone, so this is just to bring everyone in on the same loop;
Will put over 100 hours into the film and unfortunately when Friday rolled around, he just was not comfortable that it was ready to go for the day of the 100-year celebration. Given his profession and his standards, I can understand. He came on Saturday and added some more interviews and footage to use and he is continuing to work on it with the hopes that we might be able to release the video at another time this fall or winter. Stay tuned for another date.
As for the time capsule, Gene came and took everything back so we will need to come up with a time to finalize and bury (maybe?) the capsule somewhere. So there is still time to put things in the time capsule and the date for burial is to be determined.
Revisiting Meeting and SIW scheduling
Below is what I shared with you in June;
Survey Results;
- It’s probably no surprise we did not have much support for before-school meetings.
- EBISS meetings will move to afterschool 2:45-3:30 (likely on Tuesdays).
- Staff, PLCs, & Design Team meetings will likely be the first half-hour of specified SIWs. (SIWs are now 1:30-3:30 so we have a 2-hour block of time to use.) and after school on other days as needed (TBD by the individual teams)
- Staff meetings will be roughly every other week.
- Design Teams will meet once a month.
- PLCs will be once a month.
I used the information above to build our meeting schedule and plan our SIWs. Please take a look a the full meeting calendar in the master schedule document so you have better context. Below is the graph I shared earlier regarding the start time for the non-staff-meeting SIW dates.
Given all this information it would appear that we should go for the consistency and start at 1:30 in every case.
PTO
The next general meeting is Tuesday, October 8, 2:30-3:30 in the library right after school.
Dreambox – Marina and I will be providing training on Tuesday 10/15 for the 2/3 and ⅘, however either one of us will be willing to meet with you one on one get you up and running before then.
Just sharing for the sake of sharing – great information on dyslexia in a 1-minute video:
