Just one of the many spectacular sunrises from last week….
Bias Lesson: Just a reminder that you will be delivering this lesson on 9/27 or 9/28 or 9/29. Thank you to Marieka for the demo and thank you everyone for your time put into this lesson and getting the letters out to families. If you need some more background or conversation regarding the “why” behind this lesson, please reach out.
SRP Student Lessons: These lessons were shared in an email on Tuesday morning and the slides are linked here. There are 5 lessons (I think I said 7 in the meeting, so that was wrong). Please prioritize Lesson 3 to occur prior to or near our Lockdown drill on Thursday 9/29. The others can be done at your discretion with a soft deadline of mid-October. Our next fire drill is scheduled for Monday, 10/11, so if you want to plan the evacuation drill for that day you can utilize the actual drill for the lesson.
SRP Training: This staff training is postponed until we can determine a new date. Stay tuned.
Menstrual Dignity Act Lessons: I have not shared these with you yet because I am trying to be sensitive to all the different things we are asking of you (on top of your regular duties). We’ll give ourselves a little more time before rolling these lessons out and putting the menstruation products in the boy’s bathroom.
Meeting Schedule Tab vs. Google Calendar: I can say with about 90% accuracy these two are synced up. Please reach out to me if you notice a discrepancy.
PLCs: We are starting our bi-weekly PLC meetings next week. Your grade-level ICCLs are ready to lead each of your teams in the process as it evolves over the year. Kaelynn is also joining us on this journey whenever she can, so please reach out to her as a resource and sounding board for your teams. The form is linked below in the week preview section.
Some changes from last year;
- Everyone will be focused on reading. We have a lot of effort going into this area, so to help streamline our work, we will use a common focus.
- We made some small tweaks to the form to make it more user-friendly.
- There will be a spreadsheet available (linked within form) for everyone to see your past input as well as the input for the different teams.
Fall Culminations: Please take a look at the following table and let me know if I have captured everyone’s culmination info appropriately. If I don’t hear anything back, then I will add these to the google calendar along with any of your instructions for set up.

From Heidi Thomas and Highland’s Culture of Care Team:
Thank you for having your class participate in the I am… discussion. As Marieka mentioned, it fits in well with the bias lesson!
Here is our assembly plan and sign up. We are looking for a class or grade level to sign up for our November Assembly Video (Responsibility). Speaking of assemblies, the sound issue is resolved and a better seating arrangement is coming!
Morning Meetings: Now that we are settling into our routines and schedule, I (Heidi T.) plan to spend more time visiting your morning meetings! If you see me pop in during that time, it’s truly just to see the amazing culture and relationships you are building. If you ever want help with ideas or would like me to be a guest leader, just ask, I’d love to do it!
Evaluations, Minis, SLGGs:
We are back to our normal evaluation procedures for 22/23. Here is the digital link to the Certified Professional Growth and Performance Evaluation Manual. Below is the specific page regarding the observation requirements and timeline.
I will provide forms for SLGGs in the next week’s update.
This final puzzle piece was turned in right after the meeting on Wednesday when our Check-In prompt was; Name one thing you are grateful for today. Coincidence?!?!? I think not!
