Kindergarten- Thanks to the kindergarten team for hosting a parent welcome event last night here at the school. Thanks to Margaret for being there to support registration. Thanks to Rebecca for being there and helping our ELL families. Thanks to Sarah and the PTA for promoting involvement. We had an outstanding turnout (over 35 students and their parents). Appreciate all of the planning and preparation they put into this event. It was a fun and informative evening for our incoming kinders and their parents.
Evaluations- In the next week or two, self evaluations will be assigned to you through Talent Ed. Please make every effort to complete your self evaluation on or before May 20. Once you have completed your self evaluation, we will schedule a time to meet with your evaluator (Jon or Gary).
Staffing- Our staffing plan is complete and we are waiting for approval from Tammy Doty. Once we have approval, we will be given the green light to do any hiring that we might have. Jon will give a more detailed picture of where we are for staffing at our meeting on Tuesday. As mentioned in a previous edition of the weekly blog (April 8th), we will talk with anyone who we are considering moving to a different grade level. We may be surprised and told to do something, but until then please know that we will give people as much heads up as possible. As always, please come and see us if you have a question.
Testing- Testing starts May 9- just over a week away. There is still time for k-2 classes to adopt a third, fourth or fifth grade class to show them support for the coming weeks rigorous testing schedule (in fact, we still only have one class adopted).
Teacher Appreciation Week- Remember next week is Teacher Appreciation Week (and we are all teachers of our students here at Buckingham). Check out all of the fun events (food) planned for next week.
Reminders- Just a reminder that as we begin to round into the homestretch (see light at the end of the tunnel, etc.), we need to continue to be vigilant around our expectations. Hats, hoods, etc. need to be off in halls/common spaces. Students should be reminded to be quiet and respectful in hallways, walk with your students in line, be on time to pick students up from recess (probably 3/4 of recess issues happen in the last two minutes and line)… An ounce of prevention. Thank you.
Upcoming Events- As mentioned at the beginning of our SIW Wednesday, the next month and a half is going to be full of activities and events. We will do our best to keep you updated here in the blog, but please be on the lookout for random emails informing you of happenings when the info can’t wait until Friday. Although it seems like we only have a couple weeks, there are still nearly two months left. Let’s work together, lift each other up, and finish the year strong!
