Congratulations- We’d like to take this opportunity to recognize our certified and classified employees of the year for Buckingham. Congratulations to Jesse Hayes for certified and Mona Ring for classified. These two exemplify outstanding service to students and go above and beyond every single day. They positively and significantly impact students and staff alike and model all of the outstanding work that is done by each of you throughout the year. Thanks to Jesse and Mona for all of their exemplary work and thanks to all of you for what you do for our students and families every day.
As teacher appreciation week comes to an end, please know that your care, dedication, hard work and devotion is recognized all year- not just during teacher appreciation week. In fact, Sometimes we don’t know the difference we make.
Testing- State testing will begin on Monday for our third, fourth and fifth graders. Most of our scheduled testing will conclude by May 20. Make ups will be on an individual basis. Many students have accommodation that require them to be tested in a separate setting. We have tried to schedule in a way that reading groups will not be affected. Plan on sending your students to regularly scheduled reading groups and pull out interventions. Logistics are sometimes challenging, so there may be a time or two when we need to cancel a group. Please be understanding and flexible.
Fire Drill- Due to state testing, next week’s fire drill will be at 12:55 instead of the originally scheduled time.
ICCL’s- ICCL’s are hired for two year terms. Two of our five ICCL terms are completed so we have two openings. If you are interested in applying for one of our two open spots, you will need to submit an application on the district’s website. Interested teachers can submit an application through Frontline Recruit/Hire. This is a one page application that should only take you a few minutes to complete. https://www.applitrack.com/bend/onlineapp/ . Please have it completed by Friday, May 27. We will interview all applicants. See Jon if you have any questions.
IPADS- The decision has been shared with us that ipads will be collected for grades k-4 and grade 5 will keep their ipads over the summer to bring to middle school. We will soon come out with a detailed plan/timeline for collecting ipads from grades k-4.
Personal Days- Please see the following that we received in our principal notes on Thursday:
“According to our collective bargaining agreement, certified staff may NOT take personal leave the last two weeks of school (June 6-17), unless there are “unusual or highly extenuating circumstances.” If you have a certified staff member request personal leave during that time, PLEASE MAKE SURE to forward the request to HR. We want to be consistent about what is approved.”
Upcoming Events- The upcoming events portion of the blog is about to get long. We are going to list events to the end of the year. You will notice dates set for the last week’s events/activities. No times have been solidified yet, but we will give you the details of each of those as soon as they are set. Be on the lookout for random, last minute additions/ revisions/ subtractions.
