October 25

From Garra– Nutrition Services is planning to have our 3rd Annual Veteran’s Day promotion on Friday, November 8th. We will again be honoring veterans who are family members of students and staff only.  This year we’re adding an additional recognition of the veterans in the form of a thank you note from the students and staff.  We’ll be providing thank you cards sometime next week and when they are completed, just drop them off in the kitchen.  During the Veteran’s Day lunch, the kitchen staff will pass out the thank you cards to the veterans.  If you have students who would like to hand out cards, we would love their help!

Linked is the poster that will be up in the kitchens and the thank you cards we’ll be providing.

The Menu will be: Homemade Meatloaf, mashed potatoes w/ beef gravy, Caesar salad and a flag cookie.

Arts Opportunity- Young Audiences of Oregon and SW Washington is an arts-in-education organization that has been in the Portland Metro area for 61 years.  Our mission is to inspire young people and expand their learning through the arts.  The core of the work we do is connecting a roster of talented teaching artists with schools for artist residencies, workshops and performances. These programs can be designed to fit the specific needs of a school.  As we begin to expand into Central Oregon we are piloting the artist residency portion of our programming and working to establish a roster of talented local artists to work with schools in this region.  Attached is a short video of our work.  We would love to work with any schools in this region looking to provide arts experiences with their students.

Some schools have been able to provide arts experiences over the years.  If the principals in these buildings would share the name and possibly contact information of the artists they have enjoyed working with I would greatly appreciate it.  I am working to create a roster of skilled local teaching artists that we can connect with schools in the future.  The roster will be a resource for all schools in the district and help teaching artists connect with teachers who are looking for a particular project or art form to offer in their classrooms.
Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions or ideas.  My goal is to create program offerings/opportunities that fit the needs of our community.
Perrin Boyd is the contact. 612-382-1974/ [email protected]  Here is a video providing more information.
Highlight of the Week- Thanks to Dan at Juniper so for sharing this twist on morning announcements!
