Forecasting

This is a friendly reminder that we are in the middle of Forecasting! If you have already completed the forecasting form, you can disregard this message.

Forecasting will be all virtual this year, and unfortunately, students will have to do this on their own time.  We encourage students to use our office hours and/or IPSI for this process.

What is forecasting? Watch this video.

What you need to do:

STEP 1. Check your transcript so you know what course you need to forecast for. How? StudentVue -> Course History -> Unofficial Transcript (blue button). Video Tutorial: https://youtu.be/G4kM8aunOQU

STEP 2. Forecast in the google form.  Watch video tutorial first, then complete form.  All course offerings and descriptions are embedded in the forecasting form.

Once your forecast selections are submitted, you will receive an email with your course selections so you have a record of your request and can use that information for step 3 (more information will be sent).

There will be NO schedule changes next year.  If students don’t forecast, we will be creating schedules for them and we are NOT changing schedules.

Nutrition Services is planning to have 3 grab and go sites (Bend High, MVHS, and La Pine High) on Monday, March 22nd from 11:30-12:30 for Spring Break.  They plan to serve 5 breakfasts, 5 lunches, and 5 suppers in 1 bag on that day.

Hawk News!

Like many things this past year, the performing arts has taken a hard hit both in the world and at LPHS. After having to cancel our musical last year, our theatre arts students have not done a show in over 15 months. Performing Arts still is very limited in what we can do, so our Theatre Arts 3 class has been playing around with some ideas and concepts.

Currently, Ms. Spring has an advanced Theatre class (Theatre Arts 3) and they created a project. Posed with the questions “What is Theatre? Why is theatre important? And, what is LPHS Theatre?” Ms. Spring’s students went about to answer this question in a fun way.
Students worked in their individual cohorts to create a poem, then collaborated on their Wednesday WebEx to combine their poems. Then students divided the lines up evenly. Last week, they planned and filmed one another reciting the poems. This video is 100% student written, produced, and directed. Ms. Spring just lent them her editing skills to pull it all together.

While it is not a show or a production in the typical sense the students are very proud of their work!
Hopefully LPHS Theatre will entertain everyone again on stage soon! Thanks for your continued support! 🙂

Advisory Every Wednesday

Students have Advisory every Wednesday from 9:44 -9:59. Students are REQUIRED to attend. Students can find their Advisory Teacher & WebEx link HERE

Reminders

Library –

  • If students have not done so, it is highly recommended that they purchase iPad insurance. This may be done in person with Kathy, or online.
  • If students have textbooks and/or Library books that they are not using, please turn them in. They may physically come into the Library to do so.
  • Library books are available for checkout. Students may come to the Library if they have free time, or they can reserve them online using the app on their iPad.

ART – Our Art teacher, Mr. Parker, has unclaimed artwork and sculptures from last winter still sitting in his classroom. Students who are interested in picking up their projects from last year can stop by Mr. Parker’s classroom during lunch. Any old projects will be available up to March 19 (Spring Break) when they will be thrown away.
