Monthly Leadership Meetings For All BLAST Staff

Lisa Birk sent Outlook Calendar invites to monthly leadership team meetings for all BLAST staff at Perseverance Hall. Unless you hear otherwise, please attend those sessions. During the November meeting on the 13th, you will receive a copy of the book Thriving Leaders, read a chapter and participate a small group discussion.

For December and future months, I’ll do my best to share agendas through the Blog. If the agenda topics have no relevancy to your job responsibilities, then you may ask your direct supervisor (at least 48 hours prior to the meeting) to excuse you. Ultimately, I’ll need to answer to the superintendent for any BLAST Ops leader who is not in attendance at a given leadership meeting.

Veterans Day

Help us celebrate the veterans throughout Bend-La Pine Schools on Monday, November 11! We would love to say “thank you for your service” on social media and include faces throughout the district. If you have a veteran (or more than one) in your building or department, please ask them if they would like to be included in a social media “thank you.” If the answer is yes, take their photo and email it to [email protected], along with the staff member’s name.

Time & Leave System Transition: Next Steps and Resources

In this transition, we are committed to making sure you have everything you need to manage time and leave accurately and confidently. Today, we’re sharing next-step resources designed to support you with the new process, answer questions, and ensure clarity around roles and responsibilities.

This shift to paper-based tracking for many staff is a temporary step that allows us to address technical issues directly and ensure accurate payroll for everyone. Our goal is to build a sustainable, efficient process that minimizes disruptions and supports each of you in your role.

School Building Alterations, Additions or Site Modifications

Many of our operational departments have not been included when schools are considering site additions/renovations. We are working on a DRAFT site modification proposal form that schools would need to complete prior to engaging in fundraising, speaking with community partners, accepting grants or otherwise beginning a process that adds to/modifies existing facilities or involves site modifications . As the DRAFT form moves toward finalization, I will share more information.
