Hi everyone,
I can’t believe it is October! Is seems like we are certainly in a groove and it has been wonderful to hear teachers talk about what is going well and the little efficiencies that they have found along the way. This week during our staff meeting, we will be sharing these with one another so if you have found something great, please be ready to give this information to others. Our success to this point has been dependent on all of us working together to share awesome ideas that help generate and maintain greatness. The weeks to come will be no exception. Remember that we all have something to give to our collective team of educators at PCMS whether it be nuggets to advance learning or supportive shoulders to advance care for one another. This truly is a wonderful team!
Some things to think about this week:
Reminder: Dan and Mandy have tech time set aside for teachers and students on Wednesdays from 11:30-12. Send student’s to Dan’s room for support and go to Mandy’s room for help for yourself or your team.
Canvas Tool: Here is a tool within Canvas that may be supportive as you design scaffolds and supports for your struggling readers. There may be applications to be used within World Languages as well. Please check with Amy and Kellie to better understand who would benefit from such a tool. IMMERSIVE READER
Child Care Form: Please fill out the form that came in Skip’s recent e-mail regarding needs for child care.
2020/21 Clubs: As discussed, we will begin student clubs soon. If you wish to advise or have been asked to advise a club, please enter information on this 2020/21 Pacific Crest Clubs sheet as soon as possible. Here is a Club Application form if anyone is interested in starting a Club.
Welcome Assembly: Our WEB Leaders and advisors are putting together our 1st virtual assembly and will air in advisory class on Friday, October 23 from 9:00 – 9:25. More will be shared soon. During this time, they will also discuss upcoming Spirit Weeks (end of Oct) as well as Spirit Fridays beginning in November. Our PCMS Online Store is now open to purchase Golden Eagle swag and will remain open until Sunday, October 18. The advisory that has the highest participation will receive a prize!
COVID-19 Protocols: Here is a document containing many of your questions regarding COVID-19 Protocols. Our team has been working hard to develop and systematize our protocols. If you have specific questions, please reach out to Ryan.
Flu Clinic at PCMS: On Tuesday, October 20 from 7:45 – 8:45, Rite Aid will be at PCMS to administer optional flu shots. Due to district Covid protocols, Deb has a phone call into Rite Aid regarding setting up a tent outside to accommodate your immediate family members so that they too can receive the vaccine. We will update you as soon as we find out, but please email Deb if you and your family want to participate in the clinic. The flu shot is covered by most insurances with no out of pocket expense to you. Please have your insurance card with you at the time of appointment. You do not have to carry our insurance to attend. If you have any questions regarding the vaccine, please click on the following link: https://www.cdc.gov/flu/season/faq-flu-season-2020-2021.htm
